🌟 We are thrilled to share this report authored by 4 brilliant young people with #LivedExperience of displacement, who were part of the research team on @RefugeeEdUK's recently concluded project done in collaboration with @NIESRorg and commissioned by the @ONS#PeerResearch
Today we released a report co-written with our peer researchers, based on our recent project with @ONS and @AmyAshlee_ & @divyarjose at @RefugeeEdUK exploring the experiences of displaced children and young people living in England 🧡🧵
As the Home Secretary this week questioned whether the UN’s 1951 Refugee Convention is “fit for purpose”, we investigate the systems young asylum-seekers and refugees face when they get to college @RefugeeEdUK@CitizensUK

🌈 @UniofOxford is recruiting a Programme Coordinator for the Oxford Sanctuary Community. The role: creating a space of welcome for individuals who have been affected by displacement.
🗓️Deadline: Thurs 10th Aug
✍️Info: https://t.co/Hbn8YVSXCK 🧵
We stand in solidarity with all those who will be affected, and we strive for an asylum and immigration system that treats everyone with dignity and respect. We will keep working to ensure young refugees and asylum seekers can create hopeful futures through education.
Fantastic to speak with young migrant girls in @HouseofCommons at the launch of @WONDERfdn report on access to education for migrant girls. Thank you @SarahChampion for shining a light on this critical issue.
The terrible Illegal Migration Bill has passed all its stages in Parliament and will now become law. It’s a dark day for the UK’s reputation as a protector of human rights and a grave moment for those seeking safety in an uncertain world. But the fight for a fair and humane asylum system goes on.
🚨 📊 My new report with @AleynikovaKatya takes a novel look at estimating the effect of granting the right-to-work to people seeking asylum.
What we found was huge:
🔴 Increased GDP by 1.6bn
🔴 Increased Tax Revenue by 1.3bn
🔴 Reduced Expenditure by 6.7bn
