MAHA GOT WHAT IT WANTED. NOW WHAT?

Michael Boes @steaknshake and @JoeProenza join @theIsabelB to debate the movement's next chapter.

Has MAHA delivered? Are expectations outrunning reality? And what happens when a political movement gets a seat at the table?

[Matthew J. Peterson @docMJP]

This is a very good conversation about MAHA: and what it took to fight the borg to flip the food pyramid from the inside.

Thanks to champion of the earth @theisabelb for hosting for us at @ApplyToForum, with baby in tow! Kids always welcome at FORUM.

[Matthew J. Peterson @docMJP]

“The left isn’t used to seeing a party hold productive arguments with itself in the open. And while the event did not settle immigration, family policy, public health, or the AI question. It did force the people who will write the next decade’s rules into the same room to hold these discussions for the everyday American to witness.

And to Peterson’s point, a majority coalition that cannot do that will not remain a majority for long. Wednesday in Irving suggested that at least some of the right is finished treating every internal fight as betrayal. Instead, it showed that it is possible to go about doing the ordinary work of power.”

My conversation with Michael Anton from @ApplyToForum is this week’s episode of The Signal Sitdown.

@ApplyToForum provides a room where you can defend and promote your values to people who can enact change.

[Young Republicans of Texas @YRsOfTexas]

YRT Chairman @IsaacJLaster at @ApplyToForum: the Plano–Richardson area is one of the major immigration hotspots, and the rate of transformation is completely unsustainable.

[Phillip Lamb @phillamb168]

Last week’s @ApplyToForum debates included @curtis_yarvin making some excellent anti-regulatory arguments regarding AI. My latest in @theammind (written before those debates) provides a useful framing of how to train models, and some potential policy guidance.

[Chris Putnam @DallasXCEO]

Thanks to @ApplyToForum for inviting me to moderate this panel at their convention event last week which was outstanding.

Good times having Dallas Express' publisher @MontyBennett on the panel.

"The $20 burrito debate is actually a proxy for the $600,000 town home debate."

Via @Schilling1776

[Center for Renewing America @amrenewctr]

The $20 burrito is an economic question. But it points to a much bigger cultural one.

CRA’s @WadeMiller joined FORUM in Dallas for a conversation about the rising cost of participating in American life and what public policy can actually do about it. Earlier this year, CRA laid out how removing government-imposed costs and regulatory burdens could dramatically lower the cost of living for the average American family, by about $67,000 a year, to be exact.

As Wade points out, lowering the cost isn’t the whole fight. Over the last decade, the political Left has operated on the understanding that politics flows downstream from culture, using institutions to advance DEI, CRT, and a fundamentally different vision of American life. A movement focused only on taxes, trade, and balancing the budget was never equipped to answer that.

That is the paradigm shift. Put culture at the forefront, understand what we are trying to preserve, and build policy around it. Because we could balance the budget and still lose the country.

[Cernovich @Cernovich]

Big moment in Dallas when Joe Allen and Joe Lonsdale debated. I hate how everyone in Tech and populist media talks past each other on AI. Dumbs down the issues and creates panic / hysteria. Hope to see more of this.

[Matthew J. Peterson @docMJP]

“National media that spent the week scolding Republicans for ignoring kitchen-table economics at the RNC conveniently left out of their coverage the FORUM event held a few miles away, where those exact questions were being fought in public…”
