MISSING CONTEXT
If we add same-race crime, we see that the vast majority of violent crimes in America involve white victims and white offenders.
If we thought race was a huge factor, and wanted to make the biggest impact on crime numbers, we might want to start there.
Nothing like walking into a 2-hr didactic to learn that the interns I was planning to present to were already familiar with the topic. So instead I taught them how to assess personality pathology via the AMPD (which they had never HEARD of). It was a fun pivot!
BUT EVIDENCE SUGGESTS THAT PSYCHOPATHOLOGY DOES NOT CONSIST OF DISCRETE CATEGORICAL DISORDERS BUT IS ACTUALLY CONTINUOUS, DIMENSIONAL AND HIGHLY COMORBID. DIMENSIONAL MODELS OF PSYCHOPATHOLOGY ARE ACTUALLY FAR MORE RELIABLE AND VALID THAN TRADITIONAL TAXONOMIES OF PSYCHOPATHOLOGY
