🔷️This afternoon at College de Butamwa, as part of the ceremony welcoming new Intore into the existing group, a cultural entertainment event known as “Njya Rugamba” was held, where students of the school showcased their various talents.
🔷️During the event, the School Headteacher, Mr. NTAGISHYIKA RWAGATERA Mike, welcomed the newly admitted Intore and encouraged them to feel at home. He also highlighted some of the values that define the #Imparirwakurusha of College de Butamwa, including unity, punctuality, and being role models.
🔷️He said that he would accompany and support them so that the school can continue to excel and stand out at the national level. He further urged them to continue following and supporting government programmes, including initiatives to prevent and fight drug abuse among young people, particularly illicit and non-standard alcoholic beverages.
🔷️The newly welcomed Intore pledged to preserve the achievements already made and to work even harder to build on them. As Rwandans say: “Bravery is earned through commitment.” ✍️ And again: “A tree is shaped while it is still young.” ✍️🇷🇼🙏 @Rwanda_Edu@Unity_MemoryRw@ClaudetteIrere@REBRwanda@UnityClubRw@CityofKigali@nyarugenge@mbanelson@KARANGWASewase@Ollegkar

From January 2026,the #UmurengeKagameCup competitions were launched in all 416 sectors of the country and were concluded on 21/06/2026.These competitions are of great importance to Rwandans because they are not only focused on sports, but also aim at promoting good governance and community development. The competitions started in 2006 under the name“Good Governance Sports Competition,”and later became known as the Umurenge Kagame Cup.The main benefits include:
✅️Promotion of sports talent
Children and youth showcase their talents in football, basketball, volleyball, cycling, athletics, and other sports. Many of them go on to become professional athletes.
✅️Strengthening unity and reconciliation
People from different sectors come together, interact, and get to know each other better. This helps to promote a culture of peaceful coexistence and working together for the country.
✅️Promoting good governance
The competitions serve as a platform to deliver messages about good governance, quality service delivery, and fighting injustice. They are used as a tool to bring services closer to citizens and encourage them to participate in their own development.
✅️Promoting good health
Sports help people prevent non-communicable diseases and maintain good health.Local authorities encourage citizens to engage in regular physical exercise.
✅️Fighting drug abuse and other crimes
Young people are encouraged to use their time in positive sports activities instead of engaging in drug abuse or other harmful behaviors.
✅️Promoting Rwandan culture
The competitions also include traditional sports such as kubuguza and urukiramende, which help preserve Rwandan culture and values.
