[BioFi Project @BioFiProject]

Emerging from a rich tapestry of local nodes and cultural traditions @Refi_Med stewards a vision to catalyze regenerative finance across the ancient lands surrounding Mare Nostrum, from Portugal to Turkey.

Through their network of collaborative hubs, they're uniting indigenous wisdom with #web3 innovation to address critical challenges like rural depopulation and ecological decline.

They've established eight active nodes - including @ReFiBCN cooperative model and @RifaiSicilia cultural regeneration work - while developing a comprehensive Bioregional Regeneration Strategy.

Their approach weaves together ecosystem mapping, impact data commons, and a future Bioregional Financing Facility #BFF.

The Forests of the Northeast have banded together through a shared vision: a just transition toward thriving, resilient bioregions. The coalition is co-developing a regional intertribal alliance for the regeneration of their ancestral watersheds, drafting a bioregional regeneration strategy, and creating a Bioregional Financing Facility (BFF).

Their growing constellation of representatives include the Mashantucket Pequot and Eastern Pequot Tribal Nations, the Alliance for the Mystic River Watershed, Bio-Based Materials Collective (BBMC), Center for an Ecology-Based Economy (CEBE), Connecticut River Valley Bioregioning Collaborative, Design School for Regenerating Earth, Northeast Healthy Soils Network (NEHSN), Sirius Ecovillage, and Wellspring Commons.

We're overwhelmed with gratitude for our grantees, donors, and broader BioFi community for the scope and scale of support generated by this initial experiment in quadratic funding for bioregional organizing teams!

55k $USDGLO in matching! $8.8k in crowdfunding!

Major gratitude to our friends and partners @maearthmedia @MontyMerlin @cognitivepolicy @em_lyrogers @mathildawrites @owocki @RegenFdn @thetokenjedi @CeloPublicGoods @omniharmonic @matthewmonahan @samanthapower_ @glodollar @RegenCoordinate and many others for making this round a success. And of course, none of this would be possible without the amazing work of our grantees, building islands of coherence in bioregions around the world.

Gitcoin Community Rounds are funding #regeneration in naturally nested scales, from the individual (e.g. Regen Citizens @RegenCoordinate) to community (e.g. Ma Earth @maearthmedia) to bioregion (e.g. The BioFi Project @BioFiProject) to planet (e.g. Climate Coordination Network @climate_program).

Regenerate Cascadia (@CascadiaDept) was born out of a desire to connect and empower the good work already underway across the Cascadia bioregion, supporting landscape groups in identifying their own regeneration strategies and linking projects together through a unified vision and story of place. By serving as a scaffolding or backbone for the bioregional movement, Regenerate Cascadia is offering essential support structures for existing initiatives to work better together. They’re providing a mycelial network that allows the bioregion to self-organize and work towards shared goals and possibilities.

By building the backbone of flow funding infrastructure, Clare, Brandon, and the entire team behind Regenerate Cascadia are focused on aligning funding ecosystems and building local investment opportunity networks, which will support all of Cascadia in self-determining and resourcing a holistic set of next steps forward, together.

Amid the rolling hills of France's Tarn-et-Garonne, a quiet transformation is taking root. Once-abandoned land is stirring with new purpose as #Théra's Bioregional Learning Center emerges as a living laboratory where farmers, ecologists, and builders are reimagining rural regeneration.

Here they are pioneering initiatives from waterway restoration, affordable eco-housing, to the Théra Bébinet Buildathon event and development of https://t.co/UPjAuwYRhk, a new financing platform designed to streamline funding for regenerative projects across their bioregion, which spans from the Pyrenees to the Atlantic Ocean.

@SalmonNation CoLabs emerged from 30+ years of @Ecotrust's pioneering work with a vital mission to transform how capital flows to support bioregional regeneration across the traditional extent of wild Pacific salmon, from California to Alaska.

In their first phase, they've launched two groundbreaking initiatives:
🐟The Okanagan Catalyst Network, which helped restore sockeye salmon populations from 3,000 to 800,000
🐟The Rematriation Fund convening indigenous women across the Salmon Nation bioregion and beyond to innovate governance values, principles, structure, and processes that honor the rights of nature

Re/Village Green Valley began late summer of 2023 with a bold vision: transforming a former gas station into a vibrant town square and commons in the heart of West Sonoma County.

In just their first year, they've engaged over 1,000 community members and are now co-creating a Seven Generations Village Vision and Green Valley Bioregional Regeneration Strategy.
