Here is the letter drafted by postdocs, graduate students, and staff @stanford Biology highlighting the changes that we would like to see in the department in working towards a more anti-racist future #Juneteenth
A reminder that it DOES NOT MATTER if you hire more Black people if you don’t ALSO have the tools and culture to support them. They’ll either suffer through it until they find something better or, if they can, leave when they realize you care more about perception than people.
As we continue to grieve the lives lost to police brutality and racism (Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Tony McDade, & more), with the leadership of @kenleecalhoun & @prettynwhitty several of us ask @ESPM_Berkeley to take anti-racist actions bc words are not enough.
An important read: “This situation requires human kindness and empathy. Maybe mentorship here is just realizing the humanity in each of us and being there as equals with one another through an uncertain time.”

PLEASE SHARE WIDELY!!! Stanford students and community members have raised $48,000 to help out students in need due to COVID-19 and the university evacuating. We need your help to provide aid to even more students!! https://t.co/MHwigrIG8d
Happy to see @Stanford is allowing undergrad students to stay on campus if they are international, homeless, have safety or health risks, or have no where else to go.
The outpouring of support and encouragement from the #Stanford community is beautiful to see! Here’s another great resource to share/participate in the collective generosity of our community at this time: https://t.co/Cp2UglcGj7
