Eritrea’s targeted violence against the Kunama in Tigray meets the UN’s definition of genocide. The world must acknowledge these atrocities, condemn the perpetrators,&pursue justice through every available legal channel. #RecognizeGenocide#AccountabilityNow@vonderleyen@Hiyab_19
As @MSF hands over operations in #Tigray, we must highlight the crisis facing the Tigray|ans. The 🇪🇹 govt’s actions are catastrophic. Urgent attention from @UN, @EU_Commission, and @USEmbassy@hrit_ha

🌍 Ethiopia’s failure to cooperate with the int’l community & prioritize the needs of atrocity victims is unacceptable. Survivors deserve #justice & the world is watching. It’s ⏳ for Ethiopian gov to step up and fulfill its obligations. #UPR47#JusticeForTigray#HumanRights
Today I had a very productive discussion with # AmbassadorErvinMasinga of @USEmbassyAddis on a number of critical importance for Tigray. Among other things, we raised the issue of deepening peace in the region, of expediting the long-overdue implementation of the Pretoria Agreement and the need to support the IRA’s efforts to carry out its mandate in a manner that ensures sustainable peace in Tigray, Ethiopia and beyond. I also took the opportunity to thank the US Government for its principled stance on peace in the region and for its support in a range of humanitarian & rehabilitation efforts in Tigray.
It’s with great sadness that I learned of the the passing of Professor Andreas Eshete, a wonderful man of principles, a great intellectual, a world class philosopher and a lifelong fighter in the cause of justice & fraternity- a true patriot who gave his all to the people he loved & cared for. I consider myself lucky to have been his student, friend and more importantly, an avid follower of his counsel on matters big and small. His dedication to the cause of justice, equality & fraternity also meant he had all along maintained an unshakable love and support for the cause of the people of Tigray even when the chips were down. I was able to give him a ring even when communication was virtually impossible. I really regret not having visited him in the last year or so. I obviously missed out on much. It’s the irony of life that we often assume away mortality when it comes to people we cherish most. I salute you, Andreas.
The evidence currently available, there is a reasonable basis to believe that members of the ENDF, the Amhara Special Forces and the EDF have committed genocide against Tigrayans.
