I’ve decided to leave @AnthropicAI
Never thought I’d say this so soon. The pursuit of AGI has truly been my life’s work but something more important has emerged.
In 1942, hundreds of America’s best scientists made huge sacrifices and joined the Manhattan Project to protect this nation against immense evil.
Today, America faces a similar danger. Over the last few years sparks of AGI have been felt across the world.
In order to protect this great nation against the threat of AGI ending up in the hands of evil, I have decided to join the modern day Manhattan Project.
I’m excited to announce that I’ll be joining (and moving into the office) @UseCorgi as a sales development representative!
The openai x YC deal is just a new version of land grab pricing for tokens lol. Pricing a good below marginal cost to quickly build market share + create switching costs
The equity is just so OpenAI’s board would approve the token donation
I just feel sorry for whoever’s responsible for OpenAI’s balance sheet now leading up to the IPO. Unless the equity is in YC’s cohort more broadly
This is much better news than the openai x YC deal which is just land grab pricing on tokens lol. Pricing a good below marginal cost to quickly build market share + create switching costs
The equity is just so OpenAI’s board would approve what is essentially a token donation
I just feel sorry for whoever’s responsible for OpenAI’s balance sheet now leading up to the IPO. Unless the equity is in the cohort broadly
I can’t stop thinking about this post. If you do one thing today, I encourage you to give it a thoughtful, thorough read…
And then commit to never living your life this way. Life has wasted success on the people described in this post.
It really is completely pathetic. They say that comparison is the thief of joy - look no further than this post for validation it is indeed true.
On their deathbed they will realize they have lived their life completely wrong. Don’t let it be you.
@toddsaunders 2% equity when you’re pre revenue? That’s peanuts.
And openai? Why would you not? It’s also peanuts to them for a land-grab pricing model
@shiftj Beneficial for both sides. The equity is definitely a write-off for openai tho, this was a land grab pricing model. Selling tokens below marginal cost to grab customers and create switching costs
Am I allowed to say it? This is just land grab pricing lol. Pricing a good below marginal cost to quickly build market share + create switching costs
The equity is just so OpenAI’s board would approve the token donation
I just feel sorry for whoever’s responsible for OpenAI’s balance sheet now leading up to the IPO. Unless YC is offering the investment into the cohort broadly
This is bullish for startups.
OpenAI is willing to exchange $800m of compute for ~2% equity in 400 YC startups.
That’s only a bet you make if you believe the equity has the potential to be very valuable.

@chamath sure but way more important to focus on making current govt programs more effective + eliminating waste
most taxes come from top 1%, which is disproportionately spent on bottom 50%, thus greatest net impact on bottom 50% = figure out how to use those better

Not a leak. Their own public product surface.
Luel's datasets, ARR, and contributor jobs don't reconcile.

Countless times throughout history people have mobilized for movements that directly contradict their best interests.
Do you really think we should let people blindly burn it all down? There are a lot of opportunists out there spreading false narratives to regular people, the focus should be on them instead
@RandySpangler@garrytan If we’re talking PE, we’re long past founder mode
There is no sweet spot because if PE is involved, the founders are long out the door lol
Maybe a sweet spot for VC expectations or in the public markets is conceivable
