@Lalphonsusm I agree, I feel if there were no quotas or ways for Canadian artists to get more credit that they may be overshadowed or be irrelevant due to the massive amount of other artists from all around the world #W23POPMUS
@jeffreyahodder I completely agree, with the amount of artists producing music in other countries, it's important Canadian artists don't get overshadowed and/or forgotten. #W23POPMUS
#W23POPMUS I believe there is still a need for an enforced quota for Canadian content, though not as much as there has been in the past. This is due to the higher amount of artists from other countries (USA for example) so it's easy for Canadian content to be overshadowed.
@HollyCschool#W23POPMUS I agree that autotune makes it difficult for artists to replicate their songs live and it is seemingly relied on too heavily where some pop fans will dislike the live performance of the song as it may sound nothing like the studio version.
@Rpomeroy13#W23POPMUS I agree that recorded music is the main choice for the majority today, it is much easier and cheaper to listen to a band on their phone than it is to go to a live performance.
#W23POPMUS I agree with Wald that the average modern pop music consumer would typically rather listen to a studio recording of a song over hearing it live. They are accustomed to these songs with a lot of editing and autotune, and may dislike how it sounds different live.
@bgmcgrath10 I agree that this was blatant cultural theft as they not only stole and used the style without respecting their culture, also disrespecting each artist by not giving credit. It was pure cultural theft. #W23POPMUS
@LaheyRenee I absolutely agree, Schlock was just a way for white artists to steal black culture and try to profit off of it without any respect for it or the artists whatsoever. #W23POPMUS
#W23POPMUS "Shlock" music was absolutely cultural theft, it was just a way to piggyback off of black musicians simply to try to profit and gain attention for their own personal profits.
@ceparsons01 I agree with your stance on how his breaking voice shows passion and meaning, it really gives more emphasis on the emotion and message #W23POPMUS
@KyleMusseau I agree that the breaking voice used by Ray Charles in this song makes the listeners really feel his emotions throughout the song #W23POPMUS
#W23POPMUS I think Ray Charles used a breaking voice to strongly convey his emotions to his listeners, not only showing us how he may feel about the lyrics or how he was feeling as he wrote the song, it also helps us feel those emotions for ourselves.
@bgmcgrath10 I agree with the fact that streaming services can shift your music tastes and preferred genres as the genres I listened to changed a lot once I started using streaming services #W23POPMUS
@jenna_hanrahan I agree that streaming services help with music intake and the types of music I listen to. I haven't had much experience with status issues between versions but I can see how that could cause some conflict among friends/peers #W23POPMUS
#W23POPMUS Streaming services have helped me discover new genres of music and artists that I like, which has made myself learn more about myself and others through their opinion of music. It has changed the way I listen to music as I can listen to recommendations instantly.
@Rpomeroy13 I agree that materialistic lifestyles are portrayed very often in pop music, as well as attempting to make others feel like they need to live a similar lifestyle. I also agree that pop music may be more suited towards a passive audience instead of an active listener.
@jeffreyahodder I agree with your view on feeling pushed to buy a deluxe album. Some collectors and/or casual listeners may feel pressured into buying the deluxe version in hopes they will not miss out on anything special which may be included.
#W23POPMUS A false need that popular music can create is the need to fit in and try to listen to the newest "trendy" songs, even if you dislike them. I do believe pop music may sometimes be "dumbed down" as I find a lot of pop songs nowadays sounds very similar to one another.
