@simonschuster I have a student in first grade that is looking to connect with Poppy Green to ask her about her writing process-- Could you help us in any way?
#EDU4011 Students should be taught about controversial current events such as the migrant caravan heading to the United States. Learn why they chose this dangerous journey as well as the reasons some believe they should not be given asylum.
The theme of this weeks reading is to teach students to analyze sources. Not just teach students lists of facts, we must teach them to investigate a variety of sources, analyze them for legitimacy by considering context and then interpret them through corroboration.#edu4011
I am curious how many questions a good inquiry design should address? One per unit or lesson? How do we plan a good inquiry and leave room for the students to develop the question for themselves? edu4011
My thinking about teaching history has changed in that I am understanding the value of "backwards planning". First settling on a question and then building a lesson around that, instead of choosing a specific event and designing question to be answered. #edu4011
@EmilyBrogan13 I think the Keota exhibit was my favorite! While I was there last Friday I got to see a group of students from a nearby school, they were having a blast!
@Ms_Merritt17 I also had fun with this one, It is amazing to think about the trust that each minor had for their peers. I wonder what the training for something like this involved?
@BaskyCharla I was amazed by the detail in this too! I have to admit to a bit of an ick factor as well, I would not have guessed it was hair if I wasn't told. I wonder how it is done!
I really enjoyed learning about the emphasis placed on education in this community. Seeing this picture and knowing that all that is left out in that field is the stairs made me feel a little melancholy. #HCCFieldStudent
The Colorado Experience episodes were a great source of information, I especially enjoyed the ladies in the Keota episode. Amazing to think about the end of an era and how much change they have experienced within their lifetime! #HCCFieldStudent
Got the chance to see new artwork being created and meet Angel, a tour guide volunteer on Friday. I am excited to be mentored in such a rich environment and by people with such a passion for teaching! #HCCFieldStudent
Had the opportunity to discover the dust storm with a visiting class of third graders. They were so excited, I think they will remember this for a long time! #HCCFieldStudent
Q3: This lesson plan is to be taught over 5-6 30 min sessions. Is that about the average length an IDM lesson plan lasts? How will we design such an in depth lesson plan for this course that is taught during only one session?#EDU4011
Q2: I noticed how accessible and flexible the lesson plan is. While it seems daunting to write one, seeing one completed makes it seem more doable. It is more in depth than other lesson plan formats, which gives it more room for customizing it for your class. #EDU4011
Q1: While overwhelming at first, it deepens students and teachers ability to learn beyond the topic being covered. It is an exercise that teaches students to engage on a deeper level across all content areas. #EDU4011
