LOSCO, a Human rights Organisation established to promote Social Justice & Advocacy give a voice and face to human rights in order to work for communities.
We held a productive Reflect & Learn meeting on May 29, 2026, for members implementing our 2-Generation Model to the ECCD project.
This initiative empowers vulnerable children and families through quality Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE), enhanced livelihoods, and a strengthened Coalition Secretariat.
Key Achievements Shared:
Economic Empowerment: Trained 327 individuals, including refugees, in entrepreneurship.
Child Protection: Equipped 70 para-social workers with the Nurturing Care Framework, Health & Nutrition: Rolled out a nutritional supplementary program targeting over 300 children, including urban refugees.
Mr. Jimmy Odyek (Executive Director, ACODEV) emphasized the power of collaboration, stating: "The coalition approach must be guided by prudence and patience towards one another. Let each one be his brother’s keeper. We must strictly uphold humanitarian standards and fully comply with the Sovereignty Act 2026 to protect our work and partnership with the government." He reminded partners that the coalition remains stronger together through unity, accountability, and compliance while appreciating all the 11 member organizations!
Reflect and Learn meetings are vital milestones. They allow the coalition to pause, evaluate strategies, and leverage collective experiences to build resilience, foster trust, and turn challenges into actionable progress.#LCAUganda #2GenModel
Vivian Oyella, representing the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, expressed deep appreciation to CAPAIDS Uganda and Local Coalition Accelerator (LCA) Uganda for organizing this timely strategic workshop and for the invitation extended to the Foundation. In her address, she outlined key priorities for advancing the refugee response in Uganda:
Promoting Self-Reliance: Urged partners to accelerate livelihood initiatives and strongly commended the Uganda Self-Reliance Index (SRI) as a valuable tool for measuring and guiding progress.
Fostering Meaningful Inclusion: Celebrated the active presence and participation of Refugee-Led Organizations (RLOs), describing the workshop as genuinely inclusive.
Fulfilling National Commitments: Reminded stakeholders of the Government of Uganda’s pledges at the Global Refugee Forum (GRF) on jobs and livelihoods.
Supporting Policy Frameworks: Highlighted the Uganda Refugee Policy — supported by the Hilton Foundation under the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) — as the foundation of the national response.
Advancing Core Pillars: Reaffirmed that localization, jobs, livelihoods, and meaningful refugee engagement are essential for sustainable impact.
Ms. Oyella concluded by noting that the workshop comes at a critical and dynamic time for refugee programming. She described the SRI tool as vital for harmonizing livelihood interventions and emphasized that meaningful refugee participation remains the cornerstone of successful outcomes. We are grateful for such insightful leadership and partnership!

Our Advocacy, Research and Communications Manager, @Kaka_estella , delivered an oral intervention following the presentation of the Activity Report of the Special Rapporteur on Human Rights Defenders and Reprisals in Africa, Hon. Remmy Ngoy Lumbu, under Item 6. In her intervention, she highlighted the deteriorating situation of human rights defenders across Africa, drawing attention to increasing restrictions on civic space, attacks on journalists and activists, the growing use of restrictive laws to silence dissent, and the urgent need for stronger action by the Commission to promote accountability and protect fundamental freedoms across the continent.

Thank you Ambassador @JanSadek for hosting a lovely celebration to commemorate 50 years of the @EUinUG's cooperation with the Government of the Republic of Uganda. This milestone marks five decades of partnership, development and shared progress. Since 2011, the European Union continues to be a valued and consistent partner of @AfricaDefenders and DefendDefenders. Art of Brilliance!! I find a lot of sanity in this cross examination and the Constitutional provisions are so plain that even when the prosecution tries to sneak in the witness protection, he is held against his word trying to conceal the truth. Tks for the reveled truth.
BRILLIANT!
Give Frederick Joshua Mpanga his flowers!
⚖️🇺🇬🌟👏🏽
I set aside some time to watch Mr. Mpanga display a cool, calm, and collected demeanour with a wise, tactful, straightforward, and firmly professional approach during his masterful cross-examination of the Chief State Attorney/Prosecutor Joseph Kyomuhendo.
Mr. Mpanga is truly an exceptional legal mind. As a partner at AF Mpanga Advocates (@AFMpangaUG) and Head of the firm’s Intellectual Property & Real Estate departments, he showed exactly why he’s one of #Uganda’s top advocates. He was prepared, precise, and always one step ahead.
A textbook masterclass in cross-examination. Law students (and practising lawyers) should watch and learn.
