Too many families have watched loved ones suffer from neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s, ALS, and Parkinson’s.
But with some of the top research institutions in the world calling our Commonwealth home, it’s past time we put them to work conducting groundbreaking research into these neurodegenerative diseases — research that can save lives and make Pennsylvania a leader in this fight.
Today, we took the next step toward making this a reality.
I’m proud that, thanks to the leadership of @RepKyleMullins and @RepBryanCutler, the House overwhelmingly passed a bill to establish a Neurodegenerative Disease Research Program here in the Commonwealth, which I called for in my budget. This research will have a real impact — so let's keep working together to get this done.

I was fortunate to be part of the NIH postbac intramural program after undergrad - a transformative experience that catalyzed my career and led me to where I am today. There is no world where we should we diminish investment in the next generation of our scientific researchers.
NIH scientists are banned from travel and face unprecedented uncertainty. Their research programs are on edge. Their emails are being monitored. Read that again.
We are witnessing the obliteration of US research (and US democracy) that will have reverberate around the world.
If you are an undergraduate student looking for a graduate program come to our table at the Career and Education fair #bps2025 to learn about the wide range of career opportunities and graduate programs Penn State College of Medicine offers!
Today, I announced bipartisan legislation that would create a Neurodegenerative Disease Research Program. It would make $10 million in grant funding available for research on neurological diseases such as ALS, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and Huntington's.
