Happy to announce that our website is now available in 4 out of 5 of the world's most widely used languages. This is in recognition of the fact that neurodegenerative diseases know no borders and will require global collaboration to properly treat.

Basketball as therapy for Parkinson's disease.
Why does this work? Nobody really knows. All of our best answers to date fall short.
Hey @NBA or @nbacares, wanna help us figure this out?
We hear from the authors of ‘Brain Fables’ – Benjamin Stecher and Dr Alberto Espay – on their upcoming book that approaches #Parkinsons research in a way that has “never been done before”. Find out more:

#BrainFables aims to change how we think about #Parkinsons & suggests it’s time 2 stop treating it as a single condition. Authors @Neuronologist1 & @AlbertoEspay spoke 2 @parkinsons_life about lessons learned from research failures & why it’s crucial to find out more about #PwPs.
As many in the West are about to hit the highest point of the first wave, it's a good time to stop and reflect on all that got us here. I'd start with the following, a letter that should be part of any history book written about this moment...

Interesting thread by @andrea_sturchio. Should therapeutics for PD be aimed at stabilizing the physiological conformation than removing the “toxic, pathological” one? #Parkinsons
The grand master of science translation gives his thoughts and insights on what to expect from Parkinson's research in the year ahead, must read for anyone with even the faintest interest in neurodegenerative diseases...
Great day @NIH, real pleasure getting to know some of the people behind scenes.
The gaps between basic research and the needs of the patient community are still immense, but invigorating to know there are people on both sides willing to come together to try to close those gaps.
Fantastic talk today. If you run a lab working on PD, invite @Neuronologist1 to come visit you. This was a thoughtful and thought provoking perspective on PD research and the PD experience. Thank you so much Benjamin.
Excited to be heading to Washington DC to give a talk @NIH tomorrow and discuss the way forward in #neurodegenerative diseases with the fellows and researchers there.
Excited to finally announce...Coming in 2020...Brain Fables. Written by @AlbertoEspay and myself, published by @CambridgeUP, It is about how the stories told of neurodegenerative diseases obstruct progress —with a blueprint to get the therapies we need.

Hah! :-). It was really a wow - because the initial futility trial showed this would fail - and the abeta route was publicly written off. I’m cautiously encouraged, excited and hopeful. But I’m a HUGE optimist.
