@kdsdearing Great Post! I agree that concerts form an intimate connection with artists and fans. I have seen many concerts myself and from my experience I have felt closer to the artists I love.
I believe young people love to watch artists live. Not only do concerts promote an unreal experience, they also create a closer bond between fans and artist. I think new technologies such as autotune make people want to see live music more because it is clear and real. #F22POPMUS
@taylorbartlett0 I also believe white record companies were involved in cultural theft. Many African American artists were stripped from their talent due to the popstar image the white artists displayed. Great post!
I do agree that schlock music is an example of cultural theft. The music of the African Americans was stolen by white artists who changed lyrics that were considered more appropriate during that time and appealed more to the white teenage audience. #F22POPMUS
@laceyjane1313 Hi Lacey, this is a great post. I agree that Ray Charles was a very successful musician over many genres and believe he did this with his special voice.
@caytlynmun Hi Caytlyn, I agree that Ray Charles was a talented and unique singer who used techniques like breaking to convey emotion and show his authenticity.
@AidanSm54092875 I agree. Wireless headphones definetly influence status and personality. Today many people are buying wireless headphones that go over your head because they are trending and make you look cool and rich.
@skryanmun I totally agree! Even today records are so much more expensive that a streaming service. And it is way easier to access music on your phone today then through old ways!
Bluetooth headsets like AirPods have created a large divide in social status. Since headphones like this are so expensive it creates an image that if you have them you are rich. This can affect personal identity because some people might purchase AirPods to look rich. #F22POPMUS
@erinhopkins22 I agree that music these days is ‘dumbed-downed’ and very repetitive . It is sad to see artists these days releasing music that doesn’t fully reflect who they are as a person and rather conforming to what their audience would rather hear.
@andrealeigh_07 I do agree that the industry is creating a repetitive pattern of music because they know what will sell and what will make them money. It is sad to see so many talented artists being pulled into producing mainstream music.
however I do think many artists today create a false sense of reality for their listeners and push them into striving for sometimes unattainable goals. (PT 2/2) #F22POPMUS
Popular music has created ‘false needs’ such as wealth and materialistic things, relationship standards, and drugs. I don’t think all forms of music are ‘dumbed-down’, (Pt 1/2) #F22POPMUS
