The U.S. has announced that it's rejecting Sudan's "internal investigation" which claims that there is no evidence on the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) using chemical weapons in the civil war.

The U.S. has no faith in the Sudanese investigation and decided to place a second round of sanctions on the country for using chlorine gas in the war.

The U.S. demands that Sudan allows for an independent international investigation to be carried out by the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).

The Islamist-allied Sudanese Armed Forces were caught on footage when they dropped barrels with chlorine gas in September 2024 against enemy combatants around the al-Jaili oil refinery and the Garri military base.

The U.S. first sanctioned Sudan in May 2025 for those crimes.

Urgent Call for Action

Videos indicate that the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) have used chemical weapons against civilians in North Kordofan. This act must be investigated immediately by the United Nations and other independent international bodies.
One day following the United States’ sanctions against the SAF over chemical-weapons use, videos have emerged of another chemical attack on Um Garfa village in North Kordofan, Sudan resulting in further atrocities against civilians.

The use of chemical weapons against civilians constitutes a genocide crime, war crimes and grave violation of international humanitarian law and must not be ignored. The international community has a responsibility to protect civilians, ensure humanitarian access, and hold all perpetrators accountable.
I call for:
• An immediate, independent investigation into these attacks
• Emergency medical and humanitarian assistance for affected communities
• Accountability for those responsible, regardless of affiliation
• Stronger international action to prevent further atrocities
The people of Sudan deserve safety, justice, and dignity. The world must not remain silent.

The International Coalition for Human Rights (ICHR) has briefed EU representatives and officials that the Muslim Brotherhood-allied Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) using chemical weapons against civilians in the Sudanese Civil War.

During the closed session, the ICHR showed concrete evidence of the use of chemical weapons.

Just a few months ago, General Al-Burhan warned that “we might be forced to use lethal force if the RSF do not comply.”

Now the Muslim Brotherhood's operational support has been fully mapped, be it financial, logistical or tactical.

Meanwhile, the SAF has refused all ceasefire proposals and continue their fight to maintain power while weaponizing chemical agents against the Sudanese civilians they claim to protect.

European leaders are faced with a conundrum. The “leader” they have supported in Sudan is using chemical weapons against civilians and rejects all ceasefire proposals.

What is the way forward?

Statement on the Protection of Civilians and the Opening of Safe Humanitarian Corridors in El Obeid

The Council of Ministers of the Peace Government is closely following the ongoing discussions with our partners in the international community regarding the protection of civilians, the facilitation of humanitarian assistance, and the establishment of safe corridors for civilians in the city of El Obeid.

While welcoming this international engagement, the Peace Government reaffirms its readiness to continue coordinating and engaging with all international and regional partners, particularly the United States of America, the United Kingdom, and the European Union, in order to reach urgent and practical measures that ensure the protection of civilians and alleviate their suffering under the supervision of the international community and the African Union.

In this regard, the Peace Government reiterates its call for the establishment of safe humanitarian corridors that would enable civilians wishing to leave El Obeid to reach secure areas where they can enjoy safety, legal protection, and humanitarian assistance. The Government also reaffirms its full commitment to facilitating, protecting, and ensuring the unhindered and non-discriminatory delivery of humanitarian aid to those in need, in coordination with the international community and international, United Nations, and regional humanitarian organizations.

The Council of Ministers further calls upon the international community to exert maximum pressure on the army militia and its terrorist brigades to allow civilians to leave the city freely, end the forced recruitment of civilians, cease using them as human shields, and stop the shelling of residential neighborhoods and civilians with bombs and drones. Field reports and ongoing monitoring indicate that these forces continue to impose severe restrictions on civilian movement, prevent residents from leaving the city, and forcibly compel civilians to bear arms and participate in military operations. Such practices constitute grave violations of international humanitarian law.

The Council of Ministers of the Peace Government reiterates its firm position that the most effective and fundamental means of protecting civilians and ending their suffering is the immediate implementation of an unconditional humanitarian ceasefire, which would facilitate the protection of civilians, the delivery of humanitarian assistance, and the evacuation of the wounded and the sick.

In this context, the Peace Government calls on the international community to adopt stronger and more effective measures to pressure the Muslim Brotherhood and its army to respond immediately to calls for a humanitarian ceasefire, after repeatedly rejecting all international initiatives and appeals aimed at ending hostilities and protecting civilians.

BREAKING:

The U.S. Treasury has imposed new sanctions on players involved with supplying the Muslim Brotherhood-allied Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) with chemical weapons.

The document shows that an Indian company exported the chlorine while a SAF military officer was responsible for importing the chemical.

A company controlled by the SAF then weaponized it on site.

The U.S. has today sanctioned a number of people and entities for the war crime, most notably:

✅ Tariq Hussain Madani - A SAF military officer part of Sudan's Military Industry Corp.

✅ Target Multiactivities Co - Part of SAF’s military-industrial complex MIC subsidiary

✅ Ports Engineering Co. - A state-owned, SAF-controlled company.

The world was shocked when France24 journalists revealed in November 2024 that the Sudanese Armed Forces has used chlorine bombs dropped by plane on two occasions in September that year, and proved it by providing video evidence.

U.S. officials later revealed that it wasn’t a one-off war crime by renegade forces but that it had been ordered by the Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Armed Forces General Al-Burhan himself.

The ICC has so far stayed silent and the EU, usually very vocal about war crimes in Africa, has been no better.

So far, it’s only the U.S. that has taken action against the war crimes with chemical weapons committed by the Islamist forces in Sudan.

An important thread on how Sudan’s Armed Forces (SAF) have relied on a network including Iran, Turkey, and Islamist factions linked to the Muslim Brotherhood to sustain their war effort.

Iran provided combat drones, Turkey expanded military ties, and groups such as the Al-Baraa Bin Malik Brigade became key fighting forces.

The Prime Minister of Peace Government of Sudan has issued a decision to suspend all activities of MSF France in Sudan, following serious allegations of mass abuse of Sudanese refugees by MSF staff in a sex-for-food scandal. These allegations constitute grave violation of human rights and crimes against humanity.

Such violations raise fundamental questions about MSF’s credibility and its commitment to serving vulnerable populations in Sudan. The Peace Government will not stand by while Sudanese girls are subjected to exploitation under the guise of aid.

I urge MSF France to fully cooperate with the Ministerial Committee tasked with investigating these allegations. MSF France should provide all relevant information and documents needed to support a thorough inquiry, ensure justice for the victims, end impunity and all forms of aid exploitation.

A historic day in restoring one of the most important constitutional rights recognized by all international treaties and laws: “the right to education for all.”

His Excellency General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, President of the Presidential Council of the Peace Government, rang the bell to mark the beginning of Sudan Certificate examinations in all areas under the Peace Government’s administration. Approximately 9,000 female and male students are expected to sit for these examinations after more than three years of deliberate deprivation affected tens of thousands of students.

*The Peace Government of Sudan stands by its decision to regulate humanitarian work and clarifies to the international community: the organizations’ registration decision is organisational, not political.

In a decisive move reflecting the Government of Peace’s direction to recalibrate the humanitarian scene, the Chairman of the National Authority for Humanitarian Access, Minister Ezzaddean Elsafi , held a high-level virtual meeting with the Swedish Special Envoy to Sudan, Magnus Köliteti, and the Head of the European Union Delegation to Sudan, Wolfram Vetter, with senior leaders of the Sudanese Relief and Humanitarian Operations Agency in attendance.

Minister Elsafi opened the meeting by stressing the importance of strengthening partnerships with international donors, praising support from the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) and the EU’s humanitarian arm (ECHO), before the discussion turned to one of the most sensitive issues: the implications of the Government of Peace’s decision to register and accredit national and international organizations.

The Swedish envoy expressed clear concern about the potential humanitarian repercussions of the decision, warning that noncompliance by organizations could disrupt the delivery of aid to those affected by the war and calling for practical solutions to ensure the uninterrupted provision of humanitarian assistance.

Similarly, the Head of the EU Delegation revealed that organizations are facing pressure and threats of expulsion from the de facto authority in Port Sudan if they comply with the registration decision, warning that this could further complicate an already very sensitive humanitarian situation.

However, the Chairman of the National Authority for Humanitarian Access clarified that the decision is not political but regulatory, stressing that it represents a substantive reform step aimed at governing humanitarian action, enhancing transparency, ensuring equitable distribution of aid according to actual need, and providing greater protection for humanitarian personnel through a “comprehensive authorization” system.

For his part, the Executive Director of the Sudanese Relief Agency, Abdulrahman Ismail, reviewed tangible achievements in the first quarter of the year, notably the issuance of approximately 2,570 humanitarian movement permits in less than one working day, and the facilitation of aid access for more than six million beneficiaries through over 70 local and international organizations, in addition to United Nations agencies.

Mahmoud Al-Nair, Director of Monitoring and Evaluation, presented the humanitarian situation, pointing to a wide food gap and disparities in aid distribution due to weak coordination among partners, which necessitates more organized and equitable interventions.

Although the envoys welcomed the clarifications and expressed understanding of the decision’s objectives, they emphasized the need to intensify dialogue with international organizations and the United Nations to reach a consensual approach that ensures the flow of assistance while upholding the principles of international humanitarian law.

At the close of the meeting, Minister Elsafi reiterated the Government of Peace’s commitment to protecting humanitarian action and ensuring the unhindered delivery of relief, while affirming that the organizations’ registration decision “is irreversible,” and expressing his full openness to dialogue to develop joint implementation mechanisms that balance regulation with the imperatives of humanitarian response.

Christians in Sudan have been particularly targeted by the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), which has close ties to the Muslim Brotherhood and views Christians as its ideological enemy.

Rafat Samir, general secretary of the Sudan Evangelical Alliance, told Fox News that “opposing Christians is their religious duty. Whoever does something to harm Christians is considered favourable to the law or to Allah.”

I condemn in strongest terms the Muslim brotherhood Army (SAF) drone strikes UNHCR aid truck and set ablaze en route to Tawila in North Darfur — destroying medical supplies and food intended for people who have already lost everything. Today, the same pattern of deliberate brutality continued: a drone strike on Hamidia IDP camp in Zalinge, Central Darfur, has killed and maimed dozens of men, women and children who were sheltering from war for more than 20 years .

Let there be no ambiguity: Muslim brotherhood Army is deliberately attacking humanitarian convoys and internally displaced civilians. Such actions amount to grave atrocities that must be investigated as war crimes. The deliberate destruction of aid and the targeting of camps where displaced families seek refuge show a callous disregard for human life and for every norm that protects civilians in conflict.

The international community cannot respond with bland statements of concern while civilians continue to burn and starve. Immediate, independent investigations must be launched. Humanitarian access to affected areas must be guaranteed and physically protected. Those responsible for ordering or carrying out strikes on humanitarian workers, convoys, and IDP sites must be held to account — through sanctions, asset freezes, travel bans, and referral to appropriate international judicial bodies where warranted.

I met with INGO representatives and announced the provision of inclusive movement permits for all registered INGOs and NNGOs, giving more freedom and less bureaucracy across PGS areas.
