@giordanorandone I do disagree. Lots of this new software will vanish because the market doesn’t want it, not because it’s unmaintainable. People will naturally maintain software that is demanded and being paid for.
I’m guessing this sentiment comes from people who haven’t figured out how to use AI well yet, so they think the hype is fake
What’ll happen is people for whom the hype is real will begin outpacing everyone else in every single sector until the hype is impossible to ignore
@webdevMason I know some folks in the AI labs say the permanent underclass isn’t real but it would appear some people are proactively choosing it and crab-bucketing others into it. The selection effect is weeding out the “succumbs to peer pressure” gene.
the frontier labs don’t have “comms problems”. reality right now has a comms problem. what is happening is a little scary and there’s no nice words anyone could say, especially not those profiting from it, that’ll make it feel that much better
@stark4833@OpenAI I work with LLMs 12 hours a day and can state plainly the relationship 4o obsessives have with the model is unhealthy and you’d aggressively resist a licensed psychologist telling you the same thing.
LLM psychosis is real and we’ve all met people afflicted by it.
