@David_Kitchen_@theDWshow Probably agree, but from memory these were an obsession of Sam's. If you ever watch the (better) extended versions suggest watching half a film one night and the other the next. Makes it feel like a normal 2 hour film rather than 4 hours.
@David_Kitchen_@theDWshow Looking forward to your take on my favourite film - although the extended version is a must! Any news on Space Fall as it has been a while.....
@David_Kitchen_@theDWshow As you touch on the German occupation of Guernsey in the 2nd World War in the episode, the film (and book) which is based on this period is very good.

@daraokearney@sam749@YouTube He berated anyone who beat him - maybe Vasily Smyslov would be preferable, although not sure what Sofia thought of him (he beat her when he was 80, not that she was not a fantastic player).
@chesspitpod Welcome back - enjoyed the current episode, although was surprised about some comments on current WC Match. Who wants to go back to the 12 draws (Caruana) and 10 draws (Karjakin). Really enjoying the competitive aggressive chess being played.
Hikaru Nakamura podcast with Lex Fridman briefly touches on his Father in Law Sunil Weeramantry's time in the early 1970's at Southampton University. He played for the Hampshire Chess County team, as well as other local chess activities.

@icemark@PeterKennyVoice Really enjoyed the narration to Iain M Banks Consider Phlebas and that is by no means a boring book. Just noticed I have The Player of Games in my to be listened to list as well.
Thank you to all of the Royal Mail and Post Office workers who got it touch today following our @CommonsBEIS hearing on postal services in the UK. Thereโs clearly more questions to be answered and Iโll make sure that they are.
The first Hampshire Chess Championship after the 2nd World War was held between 1946 and 1947. 14 players were invited to participate and Wilf Pratten won his 1st title. Article and 2 games is now on the website.

Prior to 1893 Hampshire had played a number of friendly chess matches. With the formation of the SCCU in 1892 a championship was organised to be played in 1893/1894. The latest article on the website looks at how Hampshire did in their matches.

Predictable as ever. 3:15pm today.
@SouthWestWater & @SouthernWater, from the Bristol Channel to the Thames Estuary, it rains, they dump sh*t into the environment.
@DanSmithHolla I can understand why GM and IM get free entry (deducted from prize), but why do weaker players have to play a larger entry fee (normally the other way in UK in graded sections), where we try to get more players involved.
