GABA regulates neuronal, immune & gut-brain signaling in preclinical models
LAB synthesize GABA via GAD; strain-specific GABA-T route needs validation
GABA-enriched foods may improve flavor and offer health benefits
Genetic editing, co-culture & stimulation may boost GABA yield
Could gut bacteria from long-lived people be used to treat Alzheimer's (AD) & aging? NMN-producing bacteria from healthy older adults were tested in a worm model of AD. Lifespan was extended & behavioral deficits were less 🪱💪😋 What if we ate them?

Akkermansia protects against endometritis
A.muciniphila protects against endometritis by driving tyrosol production, which reaches uterus & suppresses inflammation. Work reveals metabolite-mediated gut-uterus axis linking microbiota to reproductive health

We are all mosaics with our cells accumulating somatic mutations as we age. Now that is getting fully comprehensively quantified @CellCellPress

This is a beautiful way to visualize the pathophysiology.
B cells at different stages of differentiation occupy different compartments, express different surface markers, and drive different pathologies.
Based on this biology, it'd make sense that (for example) lupus would respond best to anti-CD19 therapies, while Sjögren’s would respond best to anti-BCMA -- though how that shakes out in trials isn't fully known.

Utilizing longitudinal data from 52,236 patients with cancer, this study created a multimodal atlas of cancer cachexia, demonstrating that weight-loss episodes are linked to systemic serologic signatures and specific tumor genotypes. dlvr.it/TVxNP3
Bacteria promote kidney stones
C. glucuronolyticum-like bacteria enriched in urine of calcium oxalate stone patients & promote CaOx crystallization via hippuric acid degradation & biofilm formation. Hippuric acid prevents bacteria-driven crystallization

Clogged arteries are not just a cholesterol problem.
Inflammation, insulin resistance, and damage to the arterial lining can all drive plaque buildup.
Check the daily food and lab markers that matter most for prevention.
