@ApatheticJester@Xenoimpulse Incredibly naive understanding, people died due to the USAID cuts, and that’s not even factoring the soft power we received from it
@synthwavedd My god, they stole fable's IP? IP theft is a serious crime! Someone should punish deepseek for stealing fable's openly available intellectual property!
@deanwball Also there’s an adversarial tone to this whole debate when OAI/Anthropic constantly doom troll about how “50% of jobs will be automated” and there clearly desire for profit (Sam Altman drives one of those like 5m+ cars), so no one trusts any idea of wealth redistribution
@deanwball I would love to hear your reply to this https://t.co/aNtDV46lph
I think you make some great points but it’s still avoiding the fact that the company you work for and are now paid by would benefit insanely from the regulatory capture :(
i'm not sure i completely agree wrt mythos, i think it'd be very easy to get equal/very close performance out of sol or kimi 3 given the right engineering [1]
that being said, you have to understand why many of us are insanely skeptical of two corporations and the us government being the sole arbiters and measurers of choosing "when we're there" and when the models are "dangerous enough" especially given the incentives and horrible comms/rhetoric around mythos and fable.

@aakashgupta I think a fair comparison to companies such as slack would be to also compare expense at the same time. It’s easy to grow revenue exponentially when expenses also grow similarly
@techeconomyana@edzitron Why wouldn’t they just say FY25 if that’s the case? Feels more probable to be “to date” to date that “just the specific FY” to date no?
@th_s4m0ht@arian_ghashghai Can you list some of these “many more new jobs” you’re speculating about? I guess it would be good to get a ballpark on what you feel the ratios are too. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence!
