Advocating small, manageable, personal consumption changes as a way of dealing with climate change actually reduces support for the larger-scale policy changes that are necessary, at least according to this one study: https://t.co/ONpR56d36O
In case you didn't know, there are kelp forests in the arctic! And they are likely going to expand in a warming future. Nice article and link to great review paper by @Filbeek & co.

It won't help @NatResWales get out of special measures to advertise for a new Board Chair for whom it is only 'desirable' to 'demonstrate an interest in the environment & sustainability' - that's an abdication of your responsibility, should be *essential*

To all those who believe stating and restating the problems and challenges of decarbonising is a reason for believing its not possible and not doing it at all - you're cowardly. Lets get on with #zerocarbonbritain because the difficulties are not a reason not to do it
Once again, @JohnHumphrysr4 making ideological statements by saying "zero by 2025 is not possible & cloud cuckoo land". Hes supposed to be a neutral interviewer @BBCRadio4 and by saying that shows he hasnt read the evidence - it is possible and must be done #zerocarbonBritain
@BarryJWoods@JohnHumphrysr4@BBCRadio4 I refer you to Zero Carbon Britain, which I have been part of researching. The blueprint for decarbonising in 15 years is there: https://t.co/dI8SlG5PeL
*every* time I hear @BBCNews on @ExtinctionR protests & the net zero / carbon neutral target they give voice to people & INTERVIEWERS who say its not possible & 2025 is too soon. Its too late for such unambition & its unethical to consider anything less REPHRASE your questions.
Reading a report clearly written by Dutch people:
"Ireland is a good example of a country that mostly puts its money on carrots and sermons."
[in terms of policy]
Direct and bang on!
The last time carbon dioxide levels were this high, Greenland was mostly green, sea levels were up to 20 meters higher and trees grew on Antarctica.
That was 2.6-5.3 million years ago. https://t.co/IwT7RvYsMb
Imagine being a forester and getting paid $100 a tonne for your Carbon .... imagine if that captured carbon was used in construction instead of CO2 emitting material like concrete....
On the #internationaldayofforests this is an excellent article about how we can move to a low #carbon future. More trees & more forests of all types are urgently needed. 🌳🌲🌳🌲
