When global perspectives meet local realities, learning goes both ways.

Perspectives from the University of British Columbia (@UBC ) met the realities of palliative care in Rwanda during a visit to the @acreolglobal office by Dr. Sarah Broder, Respirologist/GIM, Clinical Assistant Professor at UBC, and a Medical Director of Palliative Care from #Canada who has been in #Rwanda working with the clinical teaching units at @chu_butare.

Her experiences at CHUB and hearing about Dr. Christian Ntizimira’s work in #PalliativeCare sparked a curiosity to connect firsthand. During the visit, she witnessed how palliative care in our context values culture, family, and #Ubuntu philosophy in caring for patients and their loved ones.

A @Harvard alumna uplifting the next generation📢

What happens when experience meets curiosity⁉️ Our interns experienced it firsthand during a visit from Dr. Mutaganzwa Christine, a #Harvard-trained global health expert.

An introduction to #QuantitativeResearch opened the discussion with a simple question: What can numbers/statistics reveal about care? They can tell stories we might otherwise miss: patterns in care, gaps in services, and the realities patients and families navigate every day.

Thank you, Dr. Christine, for carrying forward the Harvard legacy of mentorship into the next generation.

This week, @acreolglobal team had a learning visit at the National Health Intelligence Center (#NHIC), a space where #Rwanda’s vision for evidence-based and digitalized healthcare comes to life.

We explored how data can do more than inform; it can connect, guide and give meaning to care. In palliative care, every dataset tells a story and behind every story is a patient who deserves dignity, comfort and hope.
