This is my last communication on Twitter. I have enjoyed all of your postings, particularly the Napoleonic ones. But I cannot continue to part of this forum. I will leave the reasons to your astute judgements.
@CollinRugg Too bad John. The comedy in context of the event is more than poor planning. It reflects the lack of decency on the part of the organizers. And you condone it. Perhaps retirement was a good idea.
Many don’t realize that the first people Hitler sent to his concentration camps weren’t everyday Jewish citizens, but his political opponents. So, when Trump rants about retribution, locking up his opponents, and giving them “very long sentences,” I can’t help but take him seriously… because history teaches us that is what fascist dictators do during their “Day One” period to consolidate their power. (After all, if you’re hellbent on staying in power but aren’t likely to win the next election, you can’t have your political opponents running around free.)
To keep fascism out of our lives, vote for democracy!
@AndNapoleon All of the Marshals made mistakes (Davout?). Grouchy's mistake, if it was that, occurred at Waterloo and is, therefore, emblazoned in Napoleonic history. His bad luck.
@RobertBohan The best moment of the opening ceremony, a genuine tribute to France. Give credit where credit is due. Enough about Lady Gaga, Dionysus, etc., they pale in comparison.
@NateSilver538 Is there a difference between low approval and still voting for the man. I have a low approval of broccoli, but I eat it because it's good for me.
@WHOCCFluMelb The Center and Australia have lost an outstanding researcher and leader. Laval University and Canada have acquired a scientist of international stature who will continue to contribute to the fields of virology and infectious diseases.
