I think sometimes when I’m building, I forget that this should be so intuitive that even my mom (whose only experience with tech is downloading Facebook) could use it.

But when we focus too much on that, we can lose sight of what’s actually useful to people.

Computer use and models are going to be incredible.
We’re bullish on it.

Feels like everyone hypes up the newest models of AI every time before it’s released.
It gets released and they show how it “one-shot” some random game or some UI. But no one ever shows how it really solved a problem.

This is probably the truest thing said in this podcast.
I think a lot of people underestimate how complex many of the tools we use every day actually are. Once a product becomes familiar and easy to use, it can start to look easy to build too.
People see the finished product, but they do not always see the years of iteration, edge cases, failures, infrastructure, and engineering decisions it took to make that experience feel simple.
It is easy to look at something polished and think, “I could build that in a day.” Usually, once you actually try, you realize how much complexity is hiding underneath.
“Easy to use” rarely means “easy to build.”
