I am honored to be invited to give a plenary presentation at the XXIII National Congress #SEOR2026, which is being held today in the beautiful city of Alicante, Spain. The meeting is well organized by Dr. @drjavierserrano@SEOR_ESP and the food is amazing!
Can 3 Gy help osteoarthritis pain?
In this US retrospective series, LDRT 0.5 Gy x 6 improved mean Numeric Rating Scale pain scores from 7.3 to 2.6 at ~12 weeks, with 79% achieving a clinically meaningful ≥2-point reduction.
Low burden.
Noninvasive.
Interesting signal for selected patients with persistent OA pain.

For sure, we need to know more about the brain, the anatomy, functions and dose response for each specific structure. Patients survive longer, have more recurrence over years or decades and brain metastasis becomes more complex now.
Dose–volume effects link multiple cerebral substructures to cognitive decline. Neurocognitive toxicity reflects distributed network injury beyond the hippocampus.

When I was a resident 24 years ago, we were taught that renal cancer is radiation resistant disease. Now, we learn that RT can achieve up to 100% local control when RT dose is appropriate.
#ESTRO26 - 📣 FASTRACKII final results, median F/U of 5 years. Thank you patients, funders, investigators - #kidneycancer#kcsm
1) 100% Local Control: No local recurrences were observed at 36, 60, or 84 months.
2) 100% Cancer-Specific Survival
3) Grade 3 AEs remain at 10%
📣 #ESTRO26 - @UmbertoRicardo e2irradiate @EORTC prospective OLIGOCARE registry of SABR for oligomets. ~2500 patients, ~3500 mets.
➡️ local failure 5% at 1 year and 11% at 3 years
➡️ Colorectal cancer has higher risk of progression
➡️ minimum PTV dose correlated with outcome
We should aim to deliver high quality SABR to optimise control! #radonc
A heartfelt thank you to our outstanding chairs, Drs. @StephenVLiu and Tina Cascone, and to every single faculty member, attendee, and sponsor who helped make #TexasLung26 such a success. This year’s conference was truly our best yet, packed with meaningful discussions, wonderful energy from start to finish, and a shared passion to improve care and outcomes for patients. SAVE THE DATE: April 8-10, 2027 in Austin, TX! https://t.co/BVU3cZwIQ5 Here’s a highlight video capturing the magic 🫁

More than 1/3 of our clinical practice is re-RT. The challenges include how to precisely calculate composite biological effective dose and time-dependent repair factor for each organ。
Reirradiation (#reRT) offers renewed hope for cancer recurrence—but comes with serious risks. Precision techniques, advanced imaging, and multidisciplinary care are essential.
Don't miss this definitive review on this evolving treatment️:

With the development of biology-based immunotherapy and targeted treatment, both radiotherapy technology and surgical techniques have significantly improved and much more effective. We are soldiers—army, navy, and air force—fighting cancer together to save lives. We may compete sometimes, but we collaborate much more. We share the same enemy: lung cancer.
Texas lung cancer day 2: What is the role of radiotherapy vs. surgery in stage III NSCLC in the era of IO? In the debate about RT @SalmaJabbour1 vs. surgery @BrendonStilesMD, RT won in the case of T4 N2M0 NSCLC.
Representatives from RT and Surgery did a great job inspiring lung cancer colleagues about optimizing local TX with novel systemic TX. Ultimately, we need to answer the question of what we can/should offer to our patients, including our family members.
Congratulations on a very successful @IASLC@TLCconference

Texas Lung Cancer Conference is being held in the state capital, Austin, at a renowned music hall.
Honored to be invited to participate this exciting event with deep discussions about cutting-edge innovations in lung cancer.
Radiotherapy is traditionally associated with cancer treatment, but its potential applications in neurological and psychiatric disorders like Alzheimer's disease, drug addiction, severe depression and schizophrenia are emerging areas of research.
I am thrilled to announce that Renaissance Institute completed the initial phase of its first course of LDRT for an #Alzheimers patient today.
The patient began the treatment course with a MOCA of 15, complete anosmia & ageusia, and A&Ox1.
By the end of Renaissance-modified treatment fractionation, the patient had recovered their sense of taste, was A&Ox4, able to remember my staff’s names, and MOCA improved to 19.
We look forward to opening this new & innovative fractionation scheme in the upcoming LDRT-MIND trial.

Radiotherapy in stage IV NSCLC has typically played a palliative role - but can we leverage the cytoreductive power of radiation to disrupt the biologic evolution of lung cancer and delay or prevent resistance? Encouraging evidence emerging in EGFR mutant NSCLC.
Compared with how much we invested in radiotherapy, I think that NIH should fund more RT based research projects since we don’t have enough support from industry.
The TIGIT catastrophe‼️
30 agents
220 trials
~50,000 patients
>$3B+ invested
0 approvals.
This is herding in drug development.
In BMJ Oncol we examine why it happens, the hidden costs, and what needs to change.
It’s already happening again in ADCs...
