@Swads29@ThomasKevH Why would we sign Van Hecke? The club clearly see Thiaw and Botman as the core of our back line for the foreseeable. Wilson is clearly targeting young players to create a future proof group of players with high sell on value, Van Hecke is opposite of that. Hence the Viery talks.
@Jayden7i@Doddsy228904442 Both better options yet both far worse statistically? I’ve watched Nusa play semi-regularly for the last 2 years. He’s only rated by non-bulli watchers. Toure is decent but not as good as Ezzalzouli and plays in that strange Ilzer diamond so would be a risk.
@Jonas_AL@JakeJackmann Chelsea won the premier league title two years after Abramovich’s takeover by the way, and even with adjustments for inflation they spent less than we have to do so. City won the title only three years after and have been in the champions league for 15 consecutive seasons.
@ThisDave@_Jenky88 “Best of the rest” is mental. For what exactly? Winning less trophies in 5 years with £700 million of spending than Glasner did in 2 with £100 million? Or for winning a less prestigious trophy, with more backing, than Ange?
@Jonas_AL@JakeJackmann The only way that this would be objectively relevant to the conversation would be if he played every season with that squad. How does having a bad squad before the £700 million investment effect the fact he’s generally underperformed with said spending?
@JakeJackmann How exactly did he overachieve in any of his seasons? He had massive January investment to stay up, and then had one of the best midfield 3’s, 9’s, and a solid European back line in a weak premier league where 3 of the biggest sides fell of massively.
@JakeJackmann Something he did with literally less than half the spending though. Howe has underachieved with his financial backing and to say otherwise is pure bias.
@JakeJackmann That’s not consistent European football though, every time his fixture list is congested he literally cannot perform. Emery has a total spend of just over £300 million and has been able to consistently retain European football despite having a smaller budget and a worse side.
@agbnufc_@K11Luc@NUFCMurph You have to take risks to progress. Spurs’ issue was that they consistently misused their money, more so than the coaches they brought in. We need someone like Hoeneß, Terzic, or Bosz who can build an efficient system and a defined style of possession based play.
@Brighty009@NUFCMurph Loads of coaches. Ilzer, Hoeneß, Sage, Bosz, Motta, Rose, Terzic, Italiano, we could probably even coax Inzaghi considering our owners already pay his wages. Howe is not an elite manager, not an innovator, and he never will be. He has to be moved on ASAP.
@LewisBowden_@wo01yy Sage, Hoeneß, Ilzer, Italiano, Hubert, Motta, Bosz would all probably be gettable and are all better coaches than Howe. Just because you don’t watch European football doesn’t mean that the technical director won’t be aware of the European talent pool.
@Willo__ne@geordiejosh@AjdixonNUFC92 What big games has he turned up in this year? Other than scoring a tap in against Barca, a decent finish against Liverpool (and then ghosting), and then a pen against United, he’s done nothing but score against minnows all year.
@Doddsy228904442 No, this came from Canal do Pedrosa. He’s essentially a club mouthpiece for Vasco. Ironically, it would’ve been the only signing last year that fit the clubs proposed transfer strategy. Howe has to go for the club to enact its vision.
@Doddsy228904442 £43 million is cheap? For a player who struggled to get minutes consistently for a Villa side with 0 depth? Our recruitment team were offered Rayan by Vasco and his camp for less than £30 million pounds, and had made contact in summer. Howe didn’t want him. Howe IS the issue.
@mycitybythesea@SenseiCarl_ I think people are just fed up generally with the current situation at the club, especially the transfer saga. The fact that we went from Isak to him hasn’t helped but generally the fans seem to back him.
@mycitybythesea@SenseiCarl_ Not a single fan complained about the own goal, even on derby day. People were more upset with the general lack of quality. Most of the fans rate him highly, he’s just getting over-criticised by journos because he’s unorthodox and German.
@NUFCMurph They literally have all of their senior strikers, one of their best midfielders, and their best defender injured tbf. Hardly a statement from us as bad as Liverpool were against them.
