still don’t think I’ve fully processed the last few days but i got a PhD, isn’t that wild
so much gratitude in my heart for everyone who has been a part of the ride, and esp @jonepstein1 who shaped me into the scientist that i am today and for many years of mentorship and care
New paper out of the lab today from @karenwong1013 - we show that a subset of growth factor-responsive gene activation requires the nuclear kinase MSK2, which phosphorylates H3K9me2S10 at enhancers of these responsive genes prior to their transcription.

Hey Everyone! The ModzLab has room for one more PostDoc! We have a few exciting projects that look at Retrotransposons in Development and Disease, with a bit of CRISPR sprinkled here and there. Please Re-Tweet!

“CAR-based therapies: opportunities for immuno-medicine beyond cancer”
Haig Aghajanian (@Haig_A), Joel Rurik (@DevBioAcademic) and @JonEpsteinLab offer their perspective on this rapidly growing area:

Our lab (and BGS/CAMB) is full of great people! @JonEpsteinLab is interested broadly in heart development. Much of our lab (including fellow DSRB student, friend, & excellent human @karenwong1013) studies how gene programs are epigenetically regulated at the nuclear periphery.
Good morning! I’m Joel Rurik (@DevBioAcademic) delighted to do the first CAMB twitter takeover of 2022! As a 4th yr DSRB PhD candidate in @JonEpsteinLab, I study the injured heart and develop exciting mRNA-based immuno-medicine therapies.
You may have missed this exciting report @ScienceMagazine for the potential of mRNA/nanoparticle -> engineer T cells to treat cardiac injury, heart failure and other fibrotic disorders
