The obsession of this international body with distorting the realities of our region is deeply concerning. An institution that should remain impartial has increasingly become a vehicle for misinformation. While many of our compatriots endure inhumane conditions in prisons across Kinshasa, their suffering is ignored in favor of narratives built on falsehoods and deception. This is no longer about human rights; it is about selective outrage while our people continue to endure decades of displacement, persecution, and uncertainty. When will enough be enough @hrw ????
NEW: Rwandan military forces and the M23 armed group carried out a campaign of forced recruitment and abusive detention of captured combatants and civilians in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.
In a new report, HRW documents large-scale roundups and arrests as well as grave abuses.
Establishing a moral equivalence between actions of genocide perpetrators (#FDLR) and those of #M23 protecting the victims from extermination will continue to remain a terrible mistake and a justification for genocide to be normalized and repeated. #NeverAgain
It's about time for some attention to the suffering of Congo's Tutsis. All focus seems to be on what Rwanda is doing wrong while the DRC's Govt gets a pass. Justice for Congo's Tutsis is a foundational problem which a long-term solution must address!

Congratulations to former US Navy Captain (Colonel, Ret.), Hung Cao, for his appointment as our next US Under Secretary of the Navy . As a refugee, he embodied the true meaning of American exceptionalism. Hooyah!
Dear White House Deputy Chief of Staff, @StephenM,
Sir, I respectfully wish to bring to your attention that these individuals are responsible U.S. citizens and lawful residents, many of whom serve this country with honor across various sectors of the nation we all value deeply.
We came to the United States as refugees after fleeing the Democratic Republic of Congo due to persistent ethnic violence targeting Tutsi and Banyamulenge communities since 1996. The individuals gathered in Washington were peaceful demonstrators, exercising their rights to raise awareness about the ongoing violence and systematic killings affecting their brothers and sisters in Eastern DRC.
We respectfully hope that you will take the time to look into this matter and become informed about the situation. These demonstrators seek to draw the attention of the United States, as a global leader, to the actions and conditions contributing to the suffering of these communities.
Thank you, sir, for your time and consideration.
Obama and Biden flew around 120,00 refugees by airplane from the Congo and resettled them across the United States as part of the US Refugee Admissions Program created by President Jimmy Carter.
In 1980, Jimmy Carter signed a law to provide refugees an expedited path to US citizenship and the following benefits:
—Voting. Refugees, once naturalized, have the same vote as all US citizens
—Sitting on juries. Refugees, once naturalized, can judge Americans guilty or not guilty.
—Serving as judges. Refugees, once naturalized, can become the final authority where you live on the meaning and application of the United States Constitution
—Serving as police officers. Mayors can recruit those admitted as refugees to serve as police officers with the power to arrest Americans.
—Free medical care
—Free housing
—Free food
—Free education
—Preferences in hiring and university admissions
—Chain migration for their extended families

Subject: Purpose and Outcomes of the peaceful protest held on April 20th, 2026 in Washington DC
We wish to address the outcomes and purpose of the peaceful protest held on April 20 in Washington D.C. organized by Banyamulenge and Tutsi Americans of Congolese origin.
The demonstration was successful in bringing visibility to the ongoing humanitarian crisis facing Banyamulenge and Tutsi communities in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Most importantly, it served its central purpose: to denounce, clearly and unequivocally, the ongoing genocide against Banyamulenge and Tutsi communities in democratic republic of Congo.
At the outset, we extend our sincere appreciation to President Donald J. Trump and his Administration for bringing attention to this crisis and for their continued efforts toward identifying a lasting solution.
Such engagement provides hope to communities that have endured prolonged suffering.
We also value the opportunity we had in Washington to engage with relevant stakeholders and decision-makers.
Through these exchanges, we were able to present the reality on the ground in the Democratic Republic of the Congo—where innocent civilians continue to face targeted violence, displacement, and loss of lives at hands of President Tshisekedi.
We spoke on behalf of our families and loved ones who remain victims of this ongoing genocide.
We thank the local authorities and Police for giving us All necessary permits and their support.
Our messaging—through speeches, posters, and public statements—consistently reflected our mission:
1. To raise awareness of ongoing humanitarian cris of monument proportion, to seek justice, and
2. To call for an end to the violence.
We remain steadfast in our commitment to advocacy.
We will continue to raise our voices for those who cannot, and to stand in solidarity with the victims.
The pain of our communities is real, and the urgency of this crisis cannot be overstated.
We call upon the international community to act decisively to end the atrocities, ensure accountability, and support a path toward lasting peace in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The Banyamulenge gather in Washington correctly calling out dictator Tshisekedi and the genocidal FDLR forces for carrying out another genocide in Africa's great lakes. I call on Presidents Tshisekedi and Ndayishimiye to immediately stop all violence and Implement the Washington Peace Accord. The problems in Congo require active enactment by the Congo- not blaming President Trump.
If it were not for the exceptional valor and gallantry of the Inkoranyi, we would not have the privilege to observe Kwibuka and honor the memory of the victims of the Genocide against the Tutsi. Their courage gave Rwanda a chance to live again; a chance for peace, dignity, and remembrance.
As we reflect, we extend our deepest strength and solidarity to every survivor during this difficult time. May resilience and hope continue to guide you forward.
A permanent memorial at UN HQ honours the 1M+ lives lost in the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda.
On this International Day of Reflection, we remember – because remembrance keeps hope alive.

My country of origin the DRC has failed, for over thirty years, to repatriate its refugees stranded in camps across neighboring countries, yet it now appears eager to allocate resources to accommodate deported immigrants. This contrast highlights the extent to which my people have been neglected by their own nation; and it is a reality that cannot continue indefinitely.
Congo will receive some migrants as part of a new deal under the Trump administration's third-country program, its government said Sunday, the latest such African nation to receive migrants being deported from the U.S.
