I've been applying @ID_AA_Carmack's work strategy for a while now. It's a fantastic way to see when you've got a couple days of peak performance and flow state. Which is also a good to way to know when to back off and expect a slow day.
I have kept a work log for a long time, but I recently started adding a grade to each day; some combination of effort, discipline, rigor, and results.

To win @BBC Sports Personality of the Year, you should have... personality? ๐ค @elliekildunne had a massive impact on the game and the fans. She should have won.
@airkatakana Google was already working on AI products but hadn't released them yet. Remember the whistle blower who thought Google's AI was sentient?
Also, competition is usually a big driver of pushing things forward that would have otherwise been considered not production ready.
@andrei_builds@marclou Mine used to be high despite being very active. I reduced saturated fat - no chicken skin, no bacon, switched to oat milk. It's always been low since.
So this is some serious information sharing. I started a @facebook messenger conversation with my parents at 21.40. I mentioned "Jamaican" in the first minute. 5 minutes later this pops up. What is your algorithm doing @elonmusk? Can't be a coincidence.
@karpathy For this reason, while I'm sorting out my dinner, I ask Google Home to turn on my TV, wait 10 seconds, then ask it to start Youtube or Netflix or BBC iplayer. After that I need to do everything you said manually.
Android TV and Google home - still shit.
@t_blom This scene from Iron Man is actually a good depiction of how code is written these days. In the last 12 months, my codebase has gone from 90% written by AI to 99.99% written by AI. Orchestration is the best way of describing it.
@sama can I get a request too? It'll be good to uncognito a chat. Sometimes @ChatGPTapp ends up being too funny/good and I wish I hadn't started a private chat in the first place. Surely it's just a thread with messages and that can be replayed?
@elonmusk I think it was the original F.E.A.R on the PC where it would look up your name on your machine and softly whisper it to you during the really scary scenes. Now imagine if Neuralink can hook into a game and materialise your fears in real time.
This is a very good take. For those who are curious I've attached the original flow state concept (ref https://t.co/hx0k63DJ9U).
I think my flow state is more in line with @levelsio also thanks to AI. The biggest disrupter however is realising when the AI has a done poor job and thinking I'd be better off starting from scratch (only happens less than ~10% of time).
I don't think as engineers we ever fall into worry or anxiety though - it's all part of problem solving?
