@tangotiger@Dallas2Blake Thanks, Tom! Hopefully the write-up answers your questions by shedding some more light on how those criteria are chosen and updated. 🙂
This is a really great opportunity to work with a suuuuper smart and talented team (that has infinite patience, take it from someone who asks a lot of questions).
@Kristen__Austin did a great job in the role this summer and I am so bummed I didn’t get to know her better!!
@SlangsOnSports One of my few regrets from this past summer is not getting to know you better! You’re an inspiration, Sarah, and thank you for your kind words :)
For all y'all who have been asking me, this is the posting. We've had fantastic success with @JulPrusac@TessKolp@Kristen__Austin (and Jason also started as an intern, and he's integral to our team).
#Statcast Outs Above Average - OnJump v PostJump
We can break up the Catch Probability in segments. Here, we split into two segments: on the jump (first 3 seconds) and post-jump (everything after).
Kiermaier, who has the best jump in MLB, also gets the most outs as a result.
Surprisingly, the most typical half inning in 2019 is 3 ground ball outs in a row. There have been 413 half innings this season that saw this occur., Most recently, the bottom of the 5th of yesterday's Jays-Ms game.
The final thought of the last week is to @Kristen__Austin for the hard work and growth she's shown this summer AND presenting at Saberseminar. I'm super proud of the development you've shown as the #statcast intern tree continues to impress and impact the game!
@choice_fielder Thank you! And I tried to make it clear that this is just a study of do they abandon vs. should they abandon, but I’m sure you’re right 😂
I had a great weekend at #SaberSeminar, and learned so much from the baseball analytics community! Check out my presentation on modeling catch probability three seconds into a play: https://t.co/GR2TcQcIOC
