The Three Gorges Project is the largest hydropower project in China, and the entire world.
Within the Three Gorges Reservoir Area, 632 square-kilometres of land was inundated, including 2 cities, 11 counties, and 116 market towns in Hubei and Chongqing.
More than 1.3 million migrants have been relocated. Among them, nearly 170,000 people have left their homeland and moved far away, to other provinces and municipalities such as Fujian, Guangdong, Shanghai, Shandong, Jiangsu and Zhejiang.
