This updated meta-analysis of 6 randomized trials (7,004 patients) challenges the assumption that left atrial appendage closure (LAAC) is equivalent to oral anticoagulation (OAC) for long-term stroke prevention in atrial fibrillation.
Key findings:
↑ Ischaemic stroke/systemic embolism with LAAC (RR 1.41)
↔ No difference in all-cause mortality
↔ No difference in major bleeding

With the theme “Awareness today, protection tomorrow,” this year’s Heart Failure Awareness Days highlight the urgent need to improve recognition and care for a condition affecting millions worldwide.

Heart Failure Awareness Days bring together national heart failure societies and working groups across countries to lead activities that promote early recognition, accurate diagnosis, and optimal treatment.

From 27 April to 3 May, activities worldwide will once again place heart failure at the forefront through education, advocacy, and community engagement.

📍1 in 5 patients over 55 years of age were
