Western academia faces a credibility crisis when individuals who openly align with Hezbollah and praise Khamenei as a “philosopher of liberation” are presented as neutral experts on women and the Islamic Republic.

This is not critical scholarship. It is ideological protection for a regime that has imprisoned, tortured, and killed countless Iranians, including women and political prisoners.

Shirin Saeidi
(@saeidi944101) has been accused of:
1️⃣ Fabricating interviews with former political prisoners in her PhD dissertation and a 2022 Cambridge University Press book, a grave violation of academic integrity.
2️⃣ Falsifying research data and misrepresenting human subjects, violating basic research ethics and putting real people at risk.
3️⃣ Using University of Arkansas letterhead to intervene in the Swedish appellate case of Hamid Nouri, a convicted war criminal linked to the 1988 massacre of Iranian political prisoners, abusing institutional credibility.
4️⃣ Collaborating with entities sanctioned by the United States, including Iran’s Islamic Ideology Dissemination Organization, aligning a US public university with sanctioned regime bodies.
5️⃣ Publicly promoting rhetoric that attacks Jewish self-determination, calls for dismantling Israel, and echoes antisemitic propaganda used by authoritarian regimes.
6️⃣ Disparaging and intimidating survivors of political imprisonment and families of victims of state violence, silencing and retraumatizing survivors.
7️⃣ Defending the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, calling its terrorist designation unlawful and framing criticism of the regime’s armed forces as cultural suicide.
8️⃣ Actions that have severely undermined academic honesty, respect for human subjects, and solidarity with victims of mass atrocities, harming students and the university’s reputation.

Despite serious and unresolved allegations, @saeidi944101 is still appearing on major international stages like #DohaForum2025 and presenting herself as an authority on the Middle East, women, and political Islam. Her presence at these events grants legitimacy and institutional prestige even while core questions about ethics, academic honesty, and the misuse of a public university’s name remain unanswered. This gap exposes a larger accountability failure within her institution and across global academic and policy spaces that keep elevating disputed figures without real scrutiny.
