Despite several representations to MRO Gandipet didn’t get time to identify the 1450 sq yds of govt land but the revenue authorities have time to do survey for private parties. We are not against any private properties but the earmarked govt land should be protected. Now some construction work is going on and it seems, with the support of MRO Gandipet. Shall we forego the 1450 sq yds or protect it for public purpose? The BCI Chairman first directed State Bar Councils not to enrol NALSAR’s 2026 graduates as advocates. The BCI has now withdrawn the previous order & instead ordered an “inquiry” into who organised a student campaign over the participation of the CJI at the convocation.

What power does the BCI or its Chairman have to do this?

Students have every right to object to the participation of a public figure at their university. You can disagree but not threaten their careers just because it troubles you

The larger goal seems clear: to ban independent thinking in law universities and to create a pliant academic culture.

New plastic concrete diaphragm wall (D-wall) in Gap-II of Polavaram Irrigation Project is successfully constructed well before time. The construction was started in March 2025 and completed in April 2026. During this period total 364 panels were geologically logged and certified. Construction cost of this D-wall is one thousand crores. Final report of the D-wall was handed over to the WRD, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh by Dr. Ajay Kumar Naithani, HoD, Engineering Geology Department, NIRM in the 7thPanel of Expert Meeting held at Polavaram/Rajahmundry between 27thto 29th May 2026. The Polavaram Project is a multi-purpose project on the Godavari River in the West Godavari and East Godavari Districts in Andhra Pradesh is under construction. The project has been accorded national project status by the Union Government of India. This project is a multipurpose one conferring irrigation benefits in the upland areas of Visakhapatnam, East Godavari, West Godavari and Krishna Districts and other districts of Andhra Pradesh, directly and indirectly. It also envisages drinking water supply to Visakhapatnam township and other towns and villages enroute and industrial water supply to the Visakhapatnam coast-based steel plant and other industries in the vicinity, generation of hydel power, affording navigation facilities, development of pisciculture and providing recreation and other benefits, besides urbanization. The dam construction in Gap-II involves building of a 1.5 m thick new concrete diaphragm wall up to depths of 99 m below the river bed under the earth dam which is first of its kind in India and was very challenging. The length of earth-cum-rock-fill dam in Gap-II is 2310 m. The purpose of the diaphragm wall is to secure the river bed stability for withstanding the water pressure across the dam. The main objective of NIRM study was to identify and map the foundation of hard strata for the embedding of plastic concrete diaphragm wall of the earth-cum-rock-fill-dam of Gap-II during trenching. NIRM has developed a format for the collection of data and certification of foundation levels.
