@NealMcCluskey Uhh you might want to double check this. Borrowers have to juggle sunsetting IDR options that negatively amortize, a permanent legacy IDR option with a cap on payments but less immediate relief, and the new income-driven plan. ED has done nothing to wade through this mess.

Criminal law is good and should be used. But it weak sauce to stop corruption because it can only ever reach a handful. Crim law is aiming for a handful of sand when the problem is the beach.

Elections are the first and most essential protection against corruption which is why their own corruption is so devastating.

But Public financing matching funds can at least enable the anticorruption alternatives a chance. It was essential to Mamdani’s win.

And red states and Rs are now pushing for a return to the power of states to run their own damn elections— see American promise. It’s terrible but still a lot better than 1890.
