@Caitlin59492287 Those are what I had in mind when I came up with this post. Do you think those are skills we should still be spending time teaching or are they things that technology have replaced? #wuedt6020
@MrKppnhvr I have also seen a lot of that in my classroom. My students will often use the answers found at the top of a Google search and not visit any sites. One important lesson I do every year is how to evaluate sources. #wuedt6020
@AlexTrace27 A lot of edtech platforms provide opportunities to receive training even if your district does not. It is a lot more time consuming at first until you get comfortable. I would suggest looking for PD opportunities with the platforms themselves. #wuedt6020
@Carolin99750791 I have seen a noticeable drop in grammar and writing skills. I wonder if I should adjust my expectations as technology becomes more embedded in our writing. Do students need spelling and grammar skills when programs can help them correct those problems? #wuedt6020
@EdTechMilkshake I do think there can be too much technology. There are some social skills that can become lost with too much technology. I found my class struggling with spelling and grammar after relying on the computer programs to catch errors. I love tech, but there is a line.

@MrKppnhvr The behaviors and the lack of motivation has really burned me out. I keep telling myself that the kids haven't been in school for a while, but it makes teaching tough. The lack of motivation is new to me. There seems to be an indifference to doing work this year. #wuedt6020
@BlakeMusicTeach My district has done a pretty good job providing training to use the technology available. We have a fairly robust PD calendar that is a mix of fellow teachers and admins leading the training. The PD trainings are optional so it is a little on us to seek it out.

@klineawilmu@SchafflerCHS@EdTechLaura I definitely agree with this. Some students/parents think that because the content is available at all times that you are as well to help them navigate it. Setting clear boundaries at the beginning of the year is crucial. #wuedt6020
@MsMachlis@EdTechLaura I had very similar thoughts to yours. The edtech can be adapted to meet the needs for all different types of learners in the class. I really enjoy finding ways to engage those learners who like to think a little differently. #wuedt6020
@EdTechLaura I believe that edtech is better than traditional ways of learning because it allows for more differentiation. The edtech allows teachers to meet the needs of their class and allows learners to demonstrate understanding in their own way. #wuedt6020
@klineawilmu@DHS_CoachClark@EdTechLaura@McCoolWILMu I have had some success with both Dreamscape (ELA) and Prodigy (Math & ELA soon) as ways to add gaming options to my classroom. Both have gaming elements that students know and love. The engagement is very high with these apps. #wuedt6020
@kevin_wolgemuth@MTr8PhysEd@EdTechLaura@McCoolWILMu Great recommendation! Blooket has some of the same features as Kahoot but offers a variety of different game types. I like the variety of games bc they hold engagement. I would sometimes see students give up in Kahoot when they weren't successful. #wuedt6020
@EdTechLaura@McCoolWILMu Two trends that I am implementing into my classroom are SEL check-ins and gamification. The SEL check-ins are crucial to support the student on all levels. Gamification improves engagement and makes learning more fun. #wuedt6020
