The West Bank faces unprecedented levels of settler violence, displacement of Palestinian communities, expanding settlements and mounting movement restrictions, Ramiz Alakbarov, UN deputy peace coordinator for the Middle East, told the Security Council on Tuesday.
Which vaccine breakthrough did your generation pioneer? For every generation, #VaccinesWork
Your decision makes a difference.
Get vaccinated. https://t.co/aQjPez4LVt
Every parent wants to keep their children safe, and vaccines are among the most powerful tools for doing that, making deadly diseases preventable.
@WHO is concerned that recent changes to US immunization policy are not aligned with decades of evidence that show when children are most vulnerable to disease, when vaccines provide the strongest protection, how many doses are needed, and which vaccines can be given together safely.
That evidence is reviewed continuously as new data emerge from across the globe. The current evidence is unequivocal: vaccines - including the MMR vaccine - are safe and do not cause autism.
Delaying vaccines or separating doses unnecessarily does not make vaccination safer and can leave children unprotected.
Global evidence and recommendations, including from @WHO, inform national experts, who consider local disease patterns, health systems and population needs, to determine which vaccines and schedules are best for their country.
Vaccination policy should be guided by rigorous, independent and transparent review of the best available science, not by political influence.
I would like to congratulate and thank the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on its preparedness efforts to cater for the health of pilgrims during the #Hajj1447AH season. Its efforts enabled pilgrims to perform their rituals peacefully and in good health.
The latest health technologies were used this year, including robots and drones, along with the provision of health services at various locations. Pilgrims’ health were also monitored throughout their journey.
During the past days WHO teams worked alongside Saudi authorities to follow the health conditions of pilgrims and monitor infectious diseases. We are pleased to announce the successful conclusion of the #Hajj season, and we thank the Saudi authorities for their tremendous efforts.
The achievements of this Hajj season demonstrate the Kingdom’s leadership in the management of mass gatherings and the provision of health care during such gatherings. This also reflected the efficiency of the Saudi health system and its ability to harness human and technical resources to serve the pilgrims, in line with the targets of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
We are honored at the @WHO to continue our cooperation , and wish you a blessed Hajj season.

I arrived in #Spain, where I will join senior government officials in a mission to Tenerife to oversee safe disembarkation of the passengers, crew members and health experts from MV Hondius cruise ship.
Meanwhile, I am in direct communication with captain Jan Dobrogowski and @WHO colleague on board Dr Freddy Banza-Mutoka, who told me that, at this stage, there are no additional people on board showing symptoms of #hantavirus.
WHO continues to actively monitor the situation, coordinate support and next steps and will keep Member States and the public updated accordingly.
So far, the risk for the population of Canary Islands and globally remains low.
Incredible work of @nicd_sa, South Africa in sequencing the #hantavirus
There has been excellent collaboration as @WHO works to coordinate efforts and actions of governments, experts around the world, the Ship to keep people safe.

Hantavirus latest: The UN World Health Organization (WHO) says human-to-human transmission aboard cruise ship in Atlantic Ocean cannot be ruled out, although it is rare. Seven of 147 passengers and crew have fallen ill and three have died. https://t.co/mY3ZwGQGsW
Thank you, Kudari Ardak and Kuda Daulet, for the wonderful evening.
Great time with my in-laws here in #Kazakhstan. Laughter, love, and the sweetest songs sung together under one roof.
And thank you for blessing me with my three incredible grandkids. They are my everything.
So glad to be in my second home. Family is where the heart sings, and tonight, mine was full.
I strongly condemn Saturday’s attack on @UNIFIL_ during which one French peacekeeper was killed & another three were injured.
I extend my deepest condolences to the family, friends & colleagues of the fallen peacekeeper, and wish a full & fast recovery to the injured peacekeepers.
This is the third incident in recent weeks to have resulted in the deaths of peacekeepers serving in Lebanon.
These attacks must stop.
All actors must respect the cessation of hostilities & the ceasefire.
Lebanon’s hospitals are overwhelmed after one of the deadliest days in the recent escalation.
@WHO is supporting national health authorities, but critical shortages, funding gaps, and aid delivery challenges are putting lifesaving care at risk.

@antonioguterres strongly condemns the incident that led to the killing of 2 Indonesian @UNIFIL_ peacekeepers in Lebanon on 30 March. There will need to be accountability.
Such a pleasure to welcome @NYCMayor Zohran Mamdani to the @UN this week.
I’m grateful for the outstanding support from our host city & looking forward to continuing the dialogue between the UN & New York City.
“Every week I’m calling the relatives of UN colleagues and NGO colleagues who are being killed out there on the frontlines.”
@UNReliefChief@TFletcher tells me about the deadly risks humanitarian workers are being forced to take and the brutal impact of aid cuts.
The IAEA is aware of reports of an incident in the city of Dimona, Israel, involving a missile impact and has not received any indication of damage to the nuclear research center Negev.
Information from regional States indicates that no abnormal radiation levels have been detected.
Closely monitoring the situation, Director General @RafaelMGrossi stressed that "maximum military restraint should be observed, in particular in the vicinity of nuclear facilities".
We are delivering €458 million in humanitarian aid to support people in Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, and Egypt.
We remain committed to upholding international humanitarian law and working with our partners so that no one is left behind ↓
