A bulletproof, 100% certain to work process for landing an amazing gig:
1) Don’t worry so much about finding your “passion”. Pursue mastery.
More often than not deep competence creates deep passion.
Ask yourself “what’s A thing (not THE thing) I want to get really good at?”
@intentionally Agree, I spoke up about my own loved experience inside a toxic organization, but leave it at that. I do support others speaking up about their personal experiences as well.
Learn to renegotiate commitments with yourself.
You don’t have to finish that book you don’t like.
You don’t have to finish the project that isn’t that meaningful anymore.
You don’t have to stay friends with that person who crushes your soul.
Putting things down is okay.
What I find truly wild & gaslighting about @TheVerge article re: #notmycrisistextline is that any halfway decent/trauma informed mental health worker (ie prob all the coaches & supervisors) will clock Lublin & co’s rebuttals as classic abuser tactics for maintaining control.
Everything in this thread & hashtag. It's really disappointing and infuriating how Nancy & friends' response is to attempt to discredit the POC voices and more who've shared stories and to ignore the real pain and trauma she caused #NotMyCrisisTextLine https://t.co/GUrthOfBRI
This is so disappointing—especially since the article literally calls out that she's mastered spinning PR in her favor. Many people speaking out are trained mental health professionals calling out her manipulative behavior.

I worked @dosomething 8 years ago and it changed my life. I met some of the smartest people I’ve ever worked with and built deep friendships. I also witnessed firsthand Nancy Lublin’s egregious abuses of power, racist behavior, and emotional tyranny. #notmycrisistextline
I feel as gaslit as I did working for Nancy as I did reading this article.
To characterize over a DECADE of systemic abuse, trauma, and racism as a few "disgruntled" employees is sickening and dangerous.
white supremacy looks like a WW reporter excusing malicious, tokenizing behavior of a racist, sexist WW CEO while gaslighting, defaming, and abusing the trust of a BIPOC community who put their asses on the line to uncover this abuse.

Yet I wholeheartedly support and defend the things that my former coworkers have said and reported. All of the anxiety I had while working there is back just from writing this. Bravo to them for speaking out when others would/could not. #NotMyCrisisTextLine
