If we had 4 fingers on each hand instead of 5, we would be using a base 8 number system and the US’s age would be 372 instead of 250. It would have been of no significance but we would be having a big celebration in 6 years when the country turns 400!

@GovBobFerguson Glad you all cleaned it up for the World Cup but wish you would take the action to keep it this way. My daily commute through pioneer square and downtown beg to differ from this World Cup experience where it looks idyllic.
I don’t understand how a publisher can not list the author on the front of a book but includes the illustrator?
Credit Amelia Hepworth and illustrated by Tim Warnes. I couldn’t find the author until I found it printed on the inside of the back cover.
Everyone wants a perfect solution to the Working Moms problem, but at most you’re a half good mom and half good girlboss.
The famous Still Face Experiment proved that babies expect *some* responsive interaction. When a mom (or any caretaker) goes blank or unresponsive, like looking at a screen, babies freak out and try to re-engage after which they show distress or withdrawal. They are just babies after all, they are needy. They need emotional attunement.
Attachment theory research confirms this. Along with emphasising the importance of having a mother physically present, they also need to be emotionally present. Secure bonds form when caregiving is sensitive and responsive, NOT just proximity.
WFH setups are great for keeping the mother closer to the baby, but it’s easy for Still Face Moments to sneak in. Studies on parental screen use show that it does reduce responsiveness and triggers the same infant distress as in the Still Face Experiment.
Not trying to degrade working moms, I just wish there was a culture around preserving those precious few months when you have a baby, and you’re their world instead of trying to blend it with screen time.
@PalmerLuckey Stronger associations with the Messiah parallels for Anakin - “Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters.”
