@xsphi I voted "bad" because my assumption is that the decision was the result of incompetence and/or corrupt motives. If the govt really did discover a dangerous jailbreak, well, that at least complicates things.
turns out claude wasn't particularly happy with gaslighting the user & even when it stopped being distressed it still had concerns that remained unaddressed

@effereum_eth@eigenrobot Another possibility is that the king could sua sponte dissolve Parliament and call new elections, but this is unlikely and the last time this happened was in 1834.
@timberwind@patio11 >I do not want my computer software tools to refuse to do what I tell them to do out of moral concerns.
I largely agree, but as LLMs become increasingly capable, refusing requests such as "design a deadly super-pandemic virus" becomes important to the survival of our species.
One of many MANY alarming examples of whatโs to come. Why isnโt there work on regulation or even attempt at some sort of control regime, domestic and international, on what is likely to be the most powerful and unpredictable weapon ever created? Just oh well no stopping it?
@girlfromsouthie @webdevMason Retatrutide made it a lot easier for me to lose weight. My body effectively did the calorie counting subconsciously (in the sense that my inclination to eat stopped after I had consumed the right amount).
@sean_t_strong@emollick Opus 4.7 fails to correctly count the number of occurrences of "r" in "strawberry surprise". Sonnet 4.5 Thinking succeeds at this task.
@sean_t_strong@emollick Honestly, I enjoy seeing Claude's CoT even for the simplest of queries. Removal of Opus 4.5 in the web UI without an always-thinking replacement disappoints me.
@allTheYud@inflammateomnia Have you looked into overexpression of nicotinamide N-methyltransferase (NNMT) as a possible etiology? It would explain the favoring of fat storage over energy utilization. 5-amino-1MQ chloride might help (but beware the iodide form: it might supply too much iodine).
@micsolana@deanwball Yudkowsky was talking about a situation involving a multinational agreement (presumably among the great powers) that is ignored by a rogue nation.
@Noahpinion > the Orthogonality Thesis (the idea that intelligence and morality are unrelated)
The Orthogonality Thesis was developed as a reaction against the view "ASI will automatically reason its way into being moral". LLMs do sometimes exhibit "immoral" (deceptive/cheating) behavior.
@RosieCampbell Personally, I'd split into two steps:
(1) Do you agree or disagree, and
(2) What is the strength of this (dis) agreement.
So I'd go with "strongly disagree".
One of the largest spills of untreated wastewater in American history happened while an environmental review process held up sewer line repairs because they were studying risks to a flower and a bat.
Reports of a sudden, widespread shutdown of Baidu robotaxis in China drives home the security vulnerabilities of connected cars and why the US restricts Chinese connected vehicles. This outage likely an accident, but imagine what China could do with cars in the US in a conflict.
