The latest edition of my Substack, ‘Open Mike’, in part paid tribute to Bob La Follette. He was an advocate for clean government, worker’s rights, and putting people over profit. Check out my full post to learn more about why and how we can get back to these ideals.
Happy Pride Month! Pride is more than a celebration of our LGBTQ+ community, it’s a call to action in our pursuit of dignity for all people. Let this month remind us to engage in acts big and small to create environments where everyone feels truly respected for being themselves.
On Memorial Day we pay tribute to those who have lost their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice is one we must never forget and their courage is one we must carry forward in our own lives and in our defense of democracy today
This Mental Health Awareness Month is a reminder to us all that our mental health is just as important as our physical health. We can’t show up for our loved ones and the things that matter most when we don’t take care of ourselves first.
May is #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth—a great time to check in on yourself & your loved ones. If you or someone you know needs help, confidential support & treatment options are available. #MHAM2026

Supporting our small businesses keeps our neighborhoods strong. These businesses provide jobs, connect us to local goods and produce, and build community in times we need it most.
I love to shop, and I am always so impressed by the amazing small businesses in our District! Thanks to @RepBare for joining me in Verona to celebrate Small Business Month. Join us in supporting your friends and neighbors by shopping local and shopping small!
@SenHesselbein and I were honored to present citations to our retiring workers from the Verona Area School District. This district and the dedicated workers that support our students help keep our community strong. I’m wishing all those retiring well in their next chapter!
@BrittCudaback@GovEvers From the Legislative Fiscal Bureau just yesterday:
"Payments from the general aid appropriation are under revenue limits, so the additional aid would provide property tax relief but not additional resources for school districts."
Here's the memo.
@GovEvers Nearly half of this (the whole right-hand column) is money our schools wouldn’t actually get to keep and spend on kids. We have to be honest about this.
I had a great meeting last week with folks from the Wisconsin Alumni Association! UW Madison, and all of our UW System Schools, provide an invaluable education to our students that continues to keep our Wisconsin workforce strong.
Our nurses care for us when we’re our most vulnerable and should be given the resources they need to thrive at work. I stand in support of our healthcare workers at St. Mary’s and Dean-SSM Health clinics and their right to unionize. Wisconsin workers deserve a seat at the table.
Our office is wishing farewell to Taija, our spring intern. Taija has been a great addition to our office these past several months. We are wishing her the best as she graduates from UW-Madison next Saturday and starts her journey at Brooklyn Law School this coming fall!
Happy Earth Day! One of my favorite ways to get outside is hiking, and it’s always a great reminder of the need to recommit ourselves to conservation, cleaner energy, and climate action to better take care of the place we call home.
My condolences to Dan Bice's family and colleagues. This is a big loss for Team Good Guys. Nobody in WI's 4th estate was better at holding politicians accountable. I will miss his work.
A tremendous loss for our newsroom and our whole state.

Yesterday I was able to visit the team at United Way of Dane County to hear all about the great work they are doing for our communities. Thanks for inviting me!
The veterans who’ve sacrificed for our country deserve accessible and well-resourced healthcare services. Any action that undermines our ability to provide that is a disservice. Thank you @SenatorBaldwin for fighting for accountability to veterans across our state and country.
