One of the most memorable moments happened at an @hrw report launch last week in #Malawi.
As @music_lazarus performed, the Minister of Gender began dancing with a young child with albinism, & soon half the room joined in. For a moment, everyone belonged.

🎉 We celebrate the World Health Organization's (WHO) official addition of broad-spectrum sunscreen to the Model List of Essential Medicines, a significant milestone for persons with albinism.
This milestone was powered by multi-stakeholder collaborations, advocacy, and YOUR voices. Now, governments across Africa, through the Ministry of Health, have a stronger mandate to make sunscreen accessible and affordable for persons with albinism.
Thank you to our partners: Global Greengrants Fund, CBM Global, and the Climate Action Network for helping us scale the petition globally.
👏🏻 Together with your signatures, we turned awareness into action!

On Tuesday 29 July 2025, at a powerful ceremony in Sengerema, Tanzania, 33 more names were added to the existing 106 names at the Nithamini Memorial, a monument erected by Under the Same Sun (UTSS) in 2014, that honors individuals with albinism who have been attacked or killed due to harmful myths and discrimination.
Nithamini means “Value Me” which, according to UTSS, is “both a name and a plea, a call to recognize the humanity, dignity, and worth of every person with albinism.”
Let us honor them not only with memory, but with justice.
