Happy Friday from Nairobi! π°πͺ
Today, during the 2nd East Africa Conference on Education, Sandra Abbo, Social and Behaviour Change Communication Officer, shared how @EnabelinUganda is using community engagement to challenge perceptions of #TVET in Uganda.
And the results are already visible:
πΉ 176,000+ people engaged face to face over two years
πΉ 36% growth in enrolment @luogogovti
πΉ More young women taking on traditionally male dominated technical courses
πΉ More inclusive conversations involving refugees and persons with disabilities

Yesterday, our focus was on Nawandala Primary School with the P.7 girls. With the assistance of our partner Girls Arise and the generosity of our donors, we distributed over 60 reusable sanitary pads and supplied essential scholastic materials.#YouthHaven#menstrualhealtheducation

The team had an opportunity to meet with The Mara Siana conservancy committee, and rangers whoΒ have been trained as FP/RH champions. The rangers, both men and women, also double as ambassadors to educate the community against harmful socio-cultural practices. The great strides made in incorporating women as park rangers stood to the fellows as part of the gender and Youth learnings put in practice. The interactive session presented great lessons on integration of family planning into conservancy projects and gender inclusion.
The team would like to thank the Mara Siana for sharing lessons and improving gender inclusion in such efforts.

The E in PHED ππ Most approaches to address biodiversity loss & ecosystem decline focus on direct drivers & ignore indirect drivers.
For us to truly address the bigger issues, we need to tackle the root causes which often stem from indirect drivers.
