The Office of Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India is helping build an inclusive science and technology ecosystem through initiatives such as Inclusivity in STEMM.
➡️ The Inclusivity in STEMM Framework, developed by the OPSA, serves as a toolkit to enable systemic change and create a more inclusive scientific landscape. The framework will help in ensuring gender based equity; promoting historically underserved groups; ensuring diversity of thoughts, disciplines, perspectives, and experience; ensuring plurality of knowledge and languages; and fostering just, ethical, and open science.
➡️ @ManthanOPSA, an initiative of the OPSA, serves as a collaborative digital platform connecting the country's science and innovation ecosystem. The platform currently features 65 Women in STEM members, 332 women entrepreneurs, 51 collaboration opportunities, and celebrates excellence through initiatives such as She Is – Water Sheroes.
➡️ Complementing these efforts, the programs by Government of India such as WISE-KIRAN, SERB-POWER, WISE-PDF, among others continue to strengthen women's participation across every stage of the scientific career pathway.
Designed for academia, research organisations, industry, and government, these programs and initiatives lay the foundation for a more equitable and future-ready STEMM ecosystem. As India advances towards Viksit Bharat 2047, it is important to build an inclusive science and technology ecosystem to reduce systemic biases, advance innovation, and unlock the full potential of the nation's talent.

Five cancers that used to be death sentences. Pancreatic. Glioblastoma. Triple-negative breast. Renal. Melanoma. The median survival for metastatic pancreatic cancer is still 6 months. Glioblastoma, 15 months.
Now personalized mRNA vaccines are producing complete remissions in some of these patients. Not responses. Remissions.
BioNTech’s pancreatic cancer vaccine has 6-year follow-up data. 8 of 16 patients who mounted an immune response are still alive. For a cancer that kills 95% of patients within 5 years, that's incredible.
Topol’s pyramid here maps the trajectory. From broad checkpoint inhibitors at the base to personalized neoantigen vaccines at the peak. The technology is climbing.
Paper alert! In this stellar effort from Aravind, first chapter of his thesis, we show DNA damage-independent roles of histone variant OsH2A.X for the first time. Rice H2A.X is essential for development because it modulates specific histone marks in genes

Researchers from IIT Madras and IISc Bengaluru have solved a chemistry puzzle that remained unanswered for over 70 years.
As reported in The Indian Express, the team led by Prof. Sundargopal Ghosh and Stutee Mohapatra from the Department of Chemistry, IIT Madras, along with Prof. Eluvathingal Jemmis from IISc Bengaluru, has synthesised a carbon-free molecule that mimics the iconic ‘sandwich’ structure of ferrocene.
Using osmium and boron-based rings instead of carbon, the breakthrough marks the first stable carbon-free version of the molecule — something scientists worldwide had long attempted to achieve.
Published in the prestigious journal Science (https://t.co/zqkL1CSqz6), the discovery could open new pathways for designing advanced materials with unique chemical and structural properties.

The Mega Science Vision-2035-Climate Research (CR) Report is now available on the website of the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser to GoI (OPSA). This National Roadmap has been prepared by the CR community of the country after widespread national stakeholder consultations.
Read the Report here: https://t.co/77dAOE08Ls
This large-scale consultative exercise was facilitated by the OPSA, and the @iiscbangalore, was the Nodal Institution. The preparation of the Report was led by a Working Group (WG) consisting of India’s leading climate researchers and representatives of @moefcc, @moesgoi, @IndiaDST, @DBTIndia and DoS. Prof. SK Satheesh from IISc served as the Chair of the WG, and Dr. SSC Shenoi, @incoismoes, Hyderabad as the Member-Secretary. From the Office of PSA, Dr. Praveer Asthana, PSA Fellow, was involved.
At the initiative of OPSA, CR has been considered under the mega science umbrella for the first time in the country. After surveying emerging national & international knowledge-frontiers of the field, this Report lays down a roadmap for mega science projects & activities in CR till 2035, including steps needed to build the feeder ecosystem for CR in the country.

A very nice article by Anuja Jaiswal in Times of India Health today explains the link between air pollution and type 2 diabetes.
By reducing pollution, we have a unique opportunity to prevent or slow down the rapid rise in type 2 diabetes in addition to preventing several other diseases including some forms of cancer.
