🚨 ANOTHER ATTACK ON A BANKER!
Another disturbing incident of violence against a banker has been reported at @centralbank_in Khamgaon Branch, Buldhana District, Maharashtra.
Attacks on bankers are attacks on our financial system. Banks are meant to be safe places for employees and customers, not places where bankers fear for their safety.
Bankers work every day to keep the economy moving and serve the public.
Enough is enough! We demand immediate action and strict protection for bankers.
.@Dev_Fadnavis@mieknathshinde@SunetraA_Pawar@supriya_sule Kindly intervene 🙏🏻

The banker assaulted at Khamgaon, Buldhana was not making government policy. He was only implementing it. Every farm loan, loan waiver, subsidy, DBT, and welfare scheme announced by the Central and State Governments ultimately reaches the public through a banker.
The policy is announced by @DFS_India@PMOIndia and @CMOMaharashtra. The credit goes to governments. But when anger erupts, the banker becomes the target.
This is not governance. This is shifting the cost of policy failures onto frontline bankers.
We urge @buldhanapolice1 to immediately arrest the culprit and ensure strict legal action. Violence against a public servant performing official duty cannot be tolerated.

When many remain silent, leaders like Shri @goelgauravbjp Ji choose to stand with bankers 🙏🏻
Thank you for once again taking up the cause of #5DaysBanking and placing the genuine concerns of lakhs of bank employees before the highest authorities.
Your continued support gives hope to the entire banking community.
We are grateful for your efforts and look forward to the early implementation of the five-day banking week. 🙏

Your tributes may sound heartfelt, but words alone cannot carry the weight of lives lost. True respect is not expressed in sympathy messages it is reflected in action.
Behind every such tragedy lies a silent buildup of staff shortages, toxic work culture, relentless targets, crushing workloads, and invisible mental stress that often goes unheard.
If we genuinely care, then the focus must shift from mourning after loss to preventing it before it happens. The most meaningful condolences would be creating a system where no banker feels so cornered, so exhausted, or so alone that they see no way out.
Let empathy translate into accountability. Let concern turn into reform.
Because no job should ever cost a life.

“Work-life balance” in some systems means:
Work till exhaustion.
Balance your mental breakdown quietly.
Young professionals are told they are the “future of the nation,” then welcomed with impossible targets, staff shortages, transfers far from family, endless pressure, and the timeless management philosophy, “adjust kar lo.”
Apparently, being overworked is called commitment. Anxiety is called performance pressure. Silence is called professionalism.
When a 22-year-old reaches a point where life itself feels heavier than the job, maybe the question is not about individual strength. Maybe the system should stop celebrating pressure as productivity.
Policies proudly speak about employment, growth, and development. Strange how nobody mentions the emotional cost hidden behind those glossy reports.
A workforce is not built by squeezing people dry. A country cannot progress by normalizing burnout and calling it discipline.
But yes, keep increasing targets. Human lives are clearly “non-performing assets.”

Respected Prime Minister Shri
@narendramodi Ji 🙏🏻
When you say, “Wherever possible, consider Work From Home,” it feels not just like an administrative suggestion, but a message to adapt systems with changing times.
Bank Employees too have been saying this for years work structures need timely reforms.
Then where exactly is the communication gap on #5DaysBanking ❓
The banking fraternity that stood tirelessly during Demonetization, worked fearlessly throughout the pandemic, and ensured every @PMOIndia scheme reached the last citizen, is still carrying the burden of an outdated work structure.
#5DaysBanking is not merely a demand of Bank Employees, it is a matter of national interest.
It can contribute towards:
✔ Reduced traffic congestion in cities
✔ Lower fuel consumption and pollution
✔ Better mental health & work-life balance for employees
✔ Improved productivity and customer service
✔ Stronger digital banking adoption
✔ More efficient and sustainable banking operations
✔ Alignment with global banking practices and modern work culture
Most government offices and regulatory institutions have already adopted a five-day work system. Bank Employees too deserve a balanced, progressive, and humane work environment.

Ignoring core issues like acute staff shortages, #5DayBanking & work-life balance, while pushing #PLI reflects a deeply flawed “divide & exploit” mindset.
This is not reform it’s added pressure.
It’s driving bankers toward burnout, serious health risks, and rising distress.

What is Performance Linked Incentive (PLI) in Public Sector Banks❓
PLI is a variable annual payment introduced in Public Sector Banks (PSBs) under the Bipartite Settlement / Joint Note.
It is:
Linked to the overall performance of the bank
Paid to employees and officers
Earlier structured in a way that ensured relatively uniform and inclusive distribution across different scales
In simple terms:
👉🏻 If the bank performs well, employees receive additional incentive pay.
What is the Current Issue❓
The concern arises after the Department of Financial Services (@DFS_India) advised banks to shift to a revised PLI model.
As per the revised advisory:👇🏻
▶️ Officers in Scale IV and above may receive up to 360 days of basic pay (linked to individual performance).
▶️ Employees and officers up to Scale III are reportedly capped at around 15 days basic pay + DA.
Why is this controversial❓
This creates a large disparity between:
Senior management (Scale IV & above)
Majority workforce (up to Scale III)
The difference between 360 days Vs. 15 days has triggered strong reactions.
Why is UFBU Opposing the Payment Now❓
The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) has opposed implementation/payment under the revised structure for the following reasons👇🏻
1️⃣ Discrimination Concern:-
UFBU believes the revised model creates a wide gap between higher scales and the majority of employees, which may be unfair and divisive.
2️⃣ Departure from Settlement:- Understanding
Earlier, PLI was linked to overall bank performance, not heavily differentiated by scale or based strongly on individual metrics.
3️⃣ Matter is Sub Judice:-
The issue is under conciliation before the Chief Labour Commissioner (CLC).
UFBU argues that implementing payment before resolution violates the understanding to maintain the status quo.
4️⃣ Industrial Relations Impact:-
Unilateral implementation may:
Affect employee unity
Disturb the bipartite settlement mechanism
Create long-term industrial relations tensions.

Strong and timely question by @HarshKu200 from @bsindia 👏🏻
Raising the right concerns on banking reforms at the post-Budget press conference, and drawing clarity from FM Nirmala Sitharaman Mam along with DFS Secretary M. Nagaraju Sir.
This is exactly the kind of informed, accountable journalism the sector needs. 🇮🇳🏦

We hope this high-level committee genuinely hears the voices from the ground such as overworked staff, acute manpower shortages, delayed reforms, and long-pending #5DayBanking.
A strong banking system needs not just stability and inclusion, but also dignity, work-life balance, and motivated bankers.
Looking forward to time-bound, actionable outcomes.

Viksit Bharat is being drafted in committees while banks run without staff.
One branch, half the manpower, full expectations.
Work-life balance is preached, but #5DaysBanking is treated like a threat to the Economy.
Government wants world-class banks with understaffed branches and fatigued bankers.
You can’t build Viksit Bharat on policies alone — nations grow when employees are valued, rested, and heard.

1985: Govt gave Central Govt employees 5-Day Week
Reasons ➝
✔️ Efficiency ↑
✔️ Energy Saving ↓
✔️ Work-Life Balance ⚖️
✔️ Absenteeism ↓
✔️ Commute ↓
2026: Same Govt to Bankers 👇
❌ Efficiency works only till Friday
❌ Energy saving applies only to some buildings
❌ Work-life balance is a “department-specific luxury”
❌ Mental health is optional for bankers
𝐁𝐚𝐧𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐬 = 𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐇𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐬?
🪧𝗗𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁,
If #5Daywork boosts productivity since 1985,
then not extending it to bankers in 2026 is not a policy decision —
it’s administrative satire in slow motion.
File Status: “𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻”
✔️ Demand raised: 2015
✔️ MoU signed: 07-12-2023
✔️ Settlement recorded: 08-03-2024
⏳ Time passed: 650+ days
❌ Decision: Still buffering…
UPI clears in seconds, files don’t—because Digital India runs on code, but government decisions run on calendar reminders, where “under consideration” means years, logic means silence, and bankers’ demands mean wait patiently; efficiency is celebrated on posters, work-life balance in speeches, and excuses in policy—that’s why bankers demand #5daysbanking.

Bank strike for work life balance on 27 January seems successful. United Forum of Bank Unions called it — demand 5-day week for banks.
Last such strike brought industry to halt on Dec 15-16, 2021 on different issues of wage settlement, 5 day banking & outsourcing of bank work.
