Addressing the fundamental question of why patients with advanced cancers die...
Further, molecular changes such as reduced expression of cell cylce and cell adhesion moleluces, in perfect concordance with predictions from preclinical observations. Hopefully, this would further lead to a new class of therapies for targeting metastasis.
I am honored to have been involved in this novel clinical study published in Nature Medicine “Digoxin for reduction of circulating tumor cell cluster size in metastatic breast cancer: a proof-of-concept trial”. #cancer#breastcancer#metastasis#oncology
Aceto lab has previously shown that CTC cluster dissociation reduces metastatic burden in pre-clinical models. Taking this one step ahead, we found that digoxin treatment leads to a significant reduction in CTC cluster size in patients, meeting the primary endpoint of the trial.
