Why would R.C. Sproul (who?) or any other Protestant care what Catholics do? They are not saying "this is a very serious matter" because they care about the salvation of Catholics. They are not worried about the eternal fate of Catholics. These are mostly Calvinists who believe they are "the elect" and everyone else is going to hell.

No, they say these things to justify their own enmity towards Mary and to justify their own separation from the Catholic Church, and to try to prevent those who have a natural filial desire to honor Mary, as she predicted all generations would, from doing so.

Scripture says Satan is evil (John 8:44) and humans are dead in sin (Eph 2:1) In Gods eyes even our righteous deeds are as filthy (Menstrual) rags.

His power comes from God’s permission, not goodness. Job 1:12, Luke 22:31, and Rev 13:5 all show Satan acts only within limits God sets.

The Archbishop asks whether we must receive Christ and believe.

Yes.

The Council sees no dispute there. 😂

But John apparently anticipated the next question:

“But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God...” (John 1:12 ESV)

Keep reading:

“who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.” (John 1:13 ESV)

That seems rather relevant to a discussion about whose will ultimately explains salvation. 😂

Calvinism does not teach that sinners are saved without believing.

It teaches that God saves sinners in such a way that they actually believe.

We repent.
We believe.
We receive Christ.

But why?

Because salvation belongs to the Lord.

The Archbishop has correctly identified the means of receiving salvation.

The question before the Council remains:

What ultimately accounts for one sinner believing while another remains in unbelief?

Conveniently, the very next verse he didn't quote tells us where the new birth originates.

“But of God.”

The terminology changes, but the actions match what the Bible calls worship

The Archbishop objects to speculation that he and Leighton Flowers may be “vessels of wrath prepared for destruction.”

On the substance:

OBJECTION SUSTAINED.

Romans 9 teaches that vessels of wrath exist.

It does not authorize us to start attaching name tags to particular professing Christians.

The Council is perfectly capable of correcting its own side. 😂

However...

The Clerk has discovered something rather awkward in the record.

Archbishop D’Souza recently wondered whether Calvinists might discover that they were:

“at the top of the list of the damned.”

😂

So apparently speculation about the eternal destiny of theological opponents becomes “very un-Christian” when the speculation crosses the aisle.

The Council proposes a simpler standard:

Nobody gets to do it.

We can challenge arguments, expose bad exegesis, and strongly disagree without pretending we have been given access to the Lamb’s Book of Life.

Chris’s characterization is therefore rejected.

The Archbishop’s generalization about “Calvinist sensibility” is also rejected.

And the Archbishop is gently reminded that exhibits submitted to this Court may occasionally become evidence against the party submitting them. 😂🏛️

Indeed, Scripture repeatedly holds men responsible for that which Scripture says he is morally unable to do.

Inability: “A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit” (Matt 7:18).

Responsibility: “Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire” (Matt 7:19)

Inability: “No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him” (John 6:44).

Responsibility: “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy laden” (Matt 11:28).
