Vernius Systems has demonstrated an active radar seeker for interceptor UAVs.
The company presented the Archimedes 1A guidance head, which was shown integrated into the Ukrainian STING interceptor UAV developed by Wild Hornets.
According to the available information, the radar seeker can reportedly detect targets at distances of more than 1 kilometre (0.6 miles) and costs around $4,000. It is designed to automate the interception process and could also improve UAV detection and engagement in conditions with limited visibility.
The Archimedes 1A could reportedly also be integrated into jet-powered interceptor UAVs, potentially including systems such as Alexa Spatium.
Such an application could enable automated guidance against faster jet-powered drones such as the Geran-3, Geran-4 and Geran-5, reducing the reaction time required from the operator.

Founded by Arthur Nguyen-Cao, Hisham El-Halabi and Joseph Gonzalez, it is backed by Y Combinator.
Autonomous or Operator-assisted:
The same seeker supports two modes of employment. It can carry an interceptor to the target on its own after launch, or feed live target telemetry back to a pilot flying manually โ closing the gap between the cueing network and visual acquisition.

Most UAS Interceptors also rely on optical guidance, which is less effective in overcast weather. A cheap radar seeker could make countering OWA drones more affordable and scalable.
Introducing Vernius Systems! They build radar seekers that turn any drone into a fully autonomous interceptor...and they spent the S26 batch far from SF building and deploying right alongside their users.
we missed our entire YC batch to build in Ukraine.
we went from idea to field testing, landed $500M in LOIs, and sold 45 units to a special forces unit
all in 8 weeks.
