We need to get ahead of this Ebola outbreak.
I am allocating up to $60 million from the United Nations Central Emergency Response Fund to accelerate the response in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the wider region.

I am deeply worried by increased drone attacks in Sudan, which have killed at least 880 civilians already this year. I urge immediate and robust measures to prevent the transfer of arms to the fighting parties.

“I see a hollowing out of the Geneva Conventions,” warns @ICRC president Mirjana Spoljaric. “Civilians are systematically reduced to numbers and statistics. We are losing sight of humanity, which has to be put at the center of all of this.
“We cannot accept the levels of destruction. We cannot accept the levels of suffering anymore. The numbers of casualties and displaced people and the rhetoric – the rhetoric around this is most problematic because it lowers the barriers. It lowers the moral frontiers to doing the worst.”

I can never thank enough those working on the frontlines, protecting families, friends & communities from the scourge of mines & explosives. At the 29th Int’l Meeting in Geneva, I stressed the urgency for all to #InvestInMineAction to protect &preserve our #OneHumanity. #NDMUN29
As landmines and improvised explosive devices continue to spread, mine action remains essential to improving safety & enabling peacekeepers to carry out patrols.
@UNPeacekeeping chief Jean-Pierre Lacroix highlighted the role of peacekeepers in supporting mine action efforts.
Here's a current list of Security Council penholders - #UNSC members generally in the lead for drafting outcome docs, requesting mtgs & leading field missions⬇️
Penholders are largely self-designated but receive other members' tacit approval.
Occasionally others take up the pen.
The Chief of the UN Mine Action Programme in Afghanistan, Nicholas Pond: “Afghanistan is no longer high on the list of humanitarian priorities. That’s the reality. But the contamination is still here, and people are still dying.”
For the first time in more than half a century, we face a world without any binding limits on the strategic nuclear arsenals of Russia & the US.
I urge both States to return to the negotiating table without delay & to agree upon a successor framework that restores verifiable limits, reduces risks & strengthens our common security.

I had the opportunity to thank @SecRollins for this critical assistance. Our @WFP teams will ensure it reaches the children & families who need it most—thank you for this life-saving contribution.
What I saw during my recent trip to Gaza was truly shocking. The level of devastation is overwhelming. The needs of people are dire.
As talks turn to Gaza’s reconstruction & what lies ahead, we must stay focused on ending the suffering & supporting early recovery – now.
The people of #Gaza cannot wait any longer.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. gave his life for ideals that remain urgent today: confronting racism & discrimination.
Decades later, no country can claim to be free of racism. Many have yet to account for their past.
We must choose & build a future without hate. #FightRacism
People in #Gaza are living in appalling conditions.
They can’t wait for long-term reconstruction. Their needs must be addressed now.
Immediate action: remove the rubble, clear the mines, restore basic services + provide safe shelter esp. during #winter.

Despite critical progress made to dispose of mines & protect communities in #Syria, @UNMAS urgently needs more support. Only once demining has been done can @UN agencies implement well-needed humanitarian, recovery & development efforts in the country. #InvestInPeace
The just-released FY26 foreign affairs spending package has nearly full funding for the UN Regular Budget and UN peacekeeping. Extremely positive development. Allows the Trump Admin to fund those parts of the UN that it continues to support after last week's UN Executive Order.
