#IDPs w/#disabilities in Ukraine face heightened risks. More initiatives are needed that prioritise #disability-inclusive approaches, employ data-driven decision-making, & actively involve people w/disabilities in response efforts: https://t.co/wQN3xlx4zM @_chiaravalenti
We are devastated to have received the news yesterday of the loss of our dear friend, respected collaborator and co-founder of Ain Media, Rushdi al-Sarraj, killed by a reported airstrike on his family home in Gaza City.
The number of trucks allowed to deliver aid into #Gaza through the Rafah crossing on 21 October is totally insufficient compared to the desperate needs of the people, who have been under complete siege and relentless bombing for two weeks. 1/4
HAPPENING NOW: Hundreds of American Jews are holding a sit-in at Congress — and we won’t leave until Congress calls for a ceasefire in Gaza. As thousands of U.S. Jews protest outside, over 350 are inside, including two dozen rabbis, holding prayerful resistance.
Civilians in #Gaza lack food, electricity, water.
Supplies are urgently needed.
➡️ We are preparing convoys of life-saving relief supplies once access is granted.
➡️ These include medicine, medical supplies & household kits with chlorine tablets for drinking water.
🔴GAZA:
🔊"Today, for the last two hours, we've been looking for drinking water. They've been shelling all day. We don't know what will happen tomorrow or where we will go."🔊
Soundbite from our colleague Dr. Mohammed Abu Mughaiseeb, MSF Deputy Medical Coordinator in Gaza ⤵️
Devastating statement released by our colleagues at the @PalestineRCS today:
"We do not have the means to evacuate the sick and the wounded in our hospitals, or the elderly and the disabled. There are no safe areas in the whole of the Gaza Strip. Humanity is on the line."
Amnesty's Crisis Evidence Lab has verified that Israeli military units striking Gaza are equipped with white phosphorus artillery rounds. We are investigating what appears to be the use of white phosphorus in Gaza, including in a strike near a hotel on the beach in Gaza City.
The Israeli military demand that 1.2 million civilians in northern #Gaza relocate to its south within 24 hours, absent of any guarantees of safety or return, would amount to the war crime of forcible transfer.
It must be reversed.

Israel and Gaza are not two countries at war. Gaza is a territory under siege, where every aspect of life is controlled by Israel.
Palestinians didn’t break through a “border” to enter Israel. They destroyed a fence separating them from the homes they were forced out of.
My article, "Unseen challenges: risks faced by #IDPs with #disabilities in #Ukraine," is now in FMR 72, "Ukraine: Insights and Implications." Shedding light on IDPs with disabilities, it calls for inclusive approaches, data-driven decisions, and active involvement.

#Refugees#Displacement
The shipwreck that occurred two days ago a few miles from Greece is one of the most serious in recent migration history. These are days of #universal mourning & collective rage. The Mediterranean is becoming a mass grave. Meanwhile, Fortress Europe is raising the barriers.
