Remember when 250 Texans died from the 2021 blackout? 11 million people without power for 3+ days? Gas industry $11 billion in profit over that time while citizens owe money for the next 10 years? The earth will burn before you do anything help the working class @GregAbbott_TX
Biden doesn't get it.
STOP pushing the radical Green New Deal.
STOP blaming oil companies & let them help save America.
Texas will make America energy independent AGAIN.
The @payneinstitute at @coschoolofmines just published a 1000-word piece I wrote on inequitable access to solar incentives in the Solar Massachusetts Renewable Target (SMART) program from @MassDOER.

The failures, pain, and death in Texas are a dramatic example of the way free market radicals have hollowed out the country with the siren song of low taxes and cheap goods. Full: https://t.co/9IHIztYLAM
It needs to be LOUDLY emphasized that this is a lie. Wind and solar power actually overperformed expected winter capacity in Texas. The state was crippled by frozen coal and gas plants, knocking out over 30 gigawatts of power. Sources below.
Let me sum up the energy crisis in Texas:
1. People are suffering, and cold.
2. Workers are doing their best.
3. It is a complex and interconnected systems issue, and therefore cannot be simplified to a specific market, technology, regulation, planning issue, or operation.
There is no perfect solution to the problem of energy generation! We need a diverse portfolio for various reasons including!!land use!! (which some renewable deployment strategies are poor in) but yes let’s end the stigma of nuclear. Happy to talk to anyone about this topic!
@815muby Also, no one is forcing developers to get 1 for 1 trade off. You can utilize the land below solar panels for sustainable agriculture (agrivoltaics)
Climate change will not be solved by someone seeking to make trillions. The endless search for profit and disregard for ecological sustainability are inherently tied. Whoever solves climate change will need to care most about sustainability. Profits will be last on the list.
@jordanbodega The ideologies behind development that have been perpetuated for nearly a century need to be dismantled before we can reach ecologically sustainable development
Solar panels are here!
These will go on the PepsiCo Rec Center. Plans are also to put the solar panels on Carver P.E. Center, Centennial Hall and Westerlin. Once fully installed, solar power is projected to provide about 8% of the college’s annual electric energy.
